Just watched The Town. Passable if you like bank-robbery, cops and robbers type films.

I'm still slowly working my way through Boardwalk Empire...
up to about number 5 - it's engaging - but I'm not sure why as pretty much all the characters are thoroughly dislikable! It has kind of drawn me in though...

LF have sent me City of God again, and Inception. Monday night is the time for some Hollywood glam I think, find out what the fuss about all this dream business is.

Watched Inception. Had heard a lot of fanboy shite about the final scene, wow is the whole thing a dream? No. Glad to settle that one. As for the film. I enjoyed, knew it would be typical glam Hollywood razzle tazzle with huge plot holes but spades of fun, and the effects are AWESOME. Fun couple of hours.

Just watched the Fran's blues episode of The Corner. Absolutely gripping. This really is a stunning achievement. I so like how it takes its time, gives the story space - very like The Wrire in this respect.
And gripping for the same reasons - the way it plays with a moral ambiguity that allows you, propels you towards, a kind of pity for this bunch of hopeless, chaotic, treacherous and, often, violent losers.
And fantastic writing and acting...

Now that "the Killing" is over, am about to start with the new BBC4 offering - a French detective series (in french - with subtitles) - called Spiral...

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Odeon at the Trafford Centre to watch The Lincoln Lawyer.
My wife and I are both big fans of Michael Connelly and have read all his work. We started after I picked up Lincoln Lawyer at an airport bookshop. The other books were bought and read within a year and we have kept up to date with new work ever since (new one out in a couple of weeks!)
If I had seen the film before reading the book I don't think I'd have bothered with the rest of the books. The film is very one paced and all the twists and turns are signposted. Its a half-decent court room drama but I've seen much better.

It's way more shocking than the Wire, but obviously there's no Omar so it cannot be considered superior
