Re: The athletics/running thread
Longest run to date since starting last summer. 6.5k in 38 minutes. Really bloody chuffed with that and moreso with the fact that I ran all but 180m. Paying the price now with very tight calf muscles, despite stretching before and after and taking a long hot bath. Let's see how the recovery goes before deciding on whether to do the parkrun this weekend.

Nice one. I have the perfect post parkrun electrolyte replacement drink bubbling away under the sink.Burnden Paddock wrote:Longest run to date since starting last summer. 6.5k in 38 minutes. Parkrun done with Burnden Paddock. Pisspot LeverEnd was in no state to run
. 1 minute & 29 seconds quicker than last week and 2 minutes & 24 seconds quicker than the week before. Hurrah.

Good stuff Bruce. That a new PB?
Seeing BP put the effort in made me drag my lazy ass out around Haigh hall this morning. Took the new dog out who was great off lead. 6 miles with a couple of poop stops (for the dog!). He's a magnificent sight at full pelt and with a bit more work on his recall he could soon have me back on the fells.

Steady now. BP popped his Parkrun cherry this morning, overtook me on Cruella and finished a minute ahead of me.thebish wrote:

Very well done btw, fella. I always knew you'd piss it

It's my fastest time for the new course, Harry, but my official PB was set on the old course before they decided that running up Cruella twice wasn't difficult enough and introduced another hill. So I'm still something like 2 & 1/2 minutes away from setting a new PB, but that's the goalHarry Genshaw wrote:Good stuff Bruce. That a new PB?

Glad to see you back out and at it, Buddy. Can we expect to see you at the Long Lane Azteca sometime soon?

^ oh aye, be there sooner rather than later. Just got to get up early enough, though LE offering to buy me breakfast should help

Re: The athletics/running thread
Having officially withdrawn from Ironman this week I am feeling a little less pressured. Coming up to Bolton in a couple of weeks I may have another crack at Parkrun. Nowhere near full belt but it would be nice to see how I cope with a couple of hills.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Cheers Bruce! Really chuffed with a time of 30:47 when i'd been expecting to be 2-3 mins slower. Feeling it today though, despite being in bed for 9.30pm last night. That could have had something to do with the half dozen or so beers and vodka and coke that I enjoyed in the company of LE, Enoch and his Millwall and Liverpool supporting mates. Not to mention the wine that I drank when I got home. Parkrun II to come next weekend.Bruce Rioja wrote:Steady now. Re: The athletics/running thread
Is there a more tedious activity than running on a treadmill that faces a wall?

Good point.thebish wrote:watching doogie's super-white-army??Bruce Rioja wrote:Is there a more tedious activity than running on a treadmill that faces a wall?
Running opposite a mirror can be difficult because of the temptation to surreptitiously perve. It can be unbalancing.

Yes. A brisk walk on a treadmill. It takes much longer. :0/Bruce Rioja wrote:Is there a more tedious activity than running on a treadmill that faces a wall?

Re: The athletics/running thread
48 seconds slower than last week on this morning's Parkrun. Still inside my average though.
Those in the know (So LeverEnd and Our Kid, then) reckon that I was slower today due to it being my fifth 5K run in six days. I blame it on me having gone to the pub last night, personally.

I can imagine 25k in 6 days would leave you feeling a bit short today! I'd only done 7k this week and was fecked.Bruce Rioja wrote:48 seconds slower than last week on this morning's Parkrun. Still inside my average though.

1:02 faster this week, somehow.
