I'm happy about tomorrow today, as I've just arranged to look at some spaniel puppies in the morning :-)

What kind Bob?

Girlfs family have a Springer puppy which is the most fun ever. It's just so excited about everything. 'Look at all the bloody stuff aaaaggghhhh'. Chasey-chasey bouncy-bouncy. I fecking love going to theirs!

They (all puppies really) are so like kids. They took her to classes recently and at her first few she kept hiding behind the m-i-l like a shy kid on its first day at school.

F*ck. I know my missus isn't happy when I do my wanderlust thing, but as I set out yesterday she gave me a card and told me not to open it until the next day. I've just opened it, and in it she's reminded me that when we picked our puppy up and drove away, the woman who sold us our pup turned round and said "go and have a good life", and now Mrs Spot is asking am I having a good life? I looked at my, now five year old, dog and just burst into tears... :D

I'm not quite sure how to interpret this, Spotty - I hope you are not in trouble....

I know exactly what you mean! I remember the moment we collected our 6wk old Welsh Border Collie from a farm near Bangor and I knew then that my life had changed. That dog and me went on to walk all the Wainwrights over eight years and with lots of swaps too :) I know for certain that Megrat had a 'good life' and she greatly improved mine too.

We're looking at springers and sprockers Pru. It'll be a bitch and the name has already been selected. Just waiting for confirmation that I can work from home a couple of days per week. I'm gonna be a dad again :-)

Well done, mrkint. Some of the old skills resurfacing?

On a personal note:

I think I whinged about it a month or two ago. In a wind storm a tree some 50 metres down the road fell across the power lines and introduced 11,000 volts across our 240 volt line. We were lucky in a sense as the only damage was a fuse box destroyed totally and the outside portion of our air-conditioner severely damaged. Our household insurance mob and the local electricity supplier declined our claim. That left us with an $1800 bill. Lovely!

Anyway, I had reason to contact my insurer the other day (it hadn't sent the latest invoice) and, as is often the case, the lass to whom I was speaking asked "Is there anything else, Mr Dujon?" In a flash - I'm quick when it comes to money - I mentioned the declined claim. Like any woman would she felt sorry for me. Ten minutes later the claim was approved. Yesterday the money arrived in my bank account. Less the excess that meant nigh on $1500 that I had thought gone forever. That's ~£1,000 in your money.

How can I not be happy? :D

Well in, hope you recorded the moves on this one!

A queen up and the bugger didn't resign?! Hope you made it painful before he eventually did :D

I'm confused. Why was the claim originally declined? Why did you not contest it? What does all perils mean? What is an act of God. If you were paid now you should have been paid the first time it seems to me.

The original people representing the insurance company and to whom I spoke and corresponded declined the claim on the basis that my policies did not include cover for 'power surges'. They quoted, chapter and verse, from the sections in their 'plain English' explanation of what the policies embrace. My protestations as to the meaning of 'power surge' were batted away like one would deter a mozzie. The electricity company said simply, "NO, talk to your insurance company". To both organisations I had sent copies of the invoices for the work that was done (I couldn't sit around forever without power whilst a claim went through). While I was stymied I was still fuming. I'd been tossing up what to do when this opportunity arose.

As to why it wasn't paid in the first place, Monty, I don't know. Perhaps I bumped into the wrong assessors the first time. Maybe they finally realised that they were on pretty thin ice with their original adjudication. :conf:

Whatever, I'm still smiling. :D
