The reward outweighs the risk.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Been years since I last had a ner and then two come along at once. It's like Christmas and birthday rolled into one.thebish wrote:yeah - but this is the irrational angry thread - so ner!CrazyHorse wrote:It's not bollox. It's the word every politician and official uses nowadays instead of "change" - to imply that the change is to a whole new level as yet undiscovered!Gooner Girl wrote:What's a step change?!
Imagine a graph of say, the level of VAT on a month by month basis. Last year it was level at 17.5% then in January it jumped up to 20%, then is steady at that level.
The graph would look like a step in profile. A step change as opposed to a slow, gradual increase.
and - what she was describing was a slow gradual increase - so double ner!
Businesswoman of the year.

Just got the taxi home from my mate's house...halfway through the journey, the cabbie just pulls over and initiates a full blown conversation on his mobile! Wouldn't have minded terribly if it was important but it really wasn't [/eavesdrop]

Not really angry about it, but...
Cookery programmes in the morning. I've just watched a load of people eating Shepherds Pie.
And now I really want Shepherds Pie myself.

That's why I put this in the angry thread, cos I shouldn't be wanting Shepherds Pie at this time...Harry Genshaw wrote:truewhite15 wrote:Not really angry about it, but...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Today it's the fact that I'm not a gambling man. On the weekend just gone there was horse race (flats) in which a superb horse named Black Caviar took part. Given that it's not every day that one can watch such an equine beauty perform I thought I'd watch the race on television. The said horse duly won after giving the leader something like five lengths advantage at the 200 mark to simply cruise by to win the race by three lengths to the second nag and another five lengths back to the third place getter. During all the razzmatazz preceding the race I made a mental bet on the 'trifecta' (that's picking the first three placings, in the right order, for those of you who are as ignorant as I am). Of course the reason for my not-very-serious angst is that I picked the trio correctly. Even on starting prices such a bet gave a return of 160:1.
