Oooh, low blow.Burnden Paddock wrote:You mention the rain once!!Gooner Girl wrote:Hmmmm. Looking at new pairs of spikes. Feet stopped growing when I was about 12so haven't bought any for ages. It's a mine field!
Do I get triple jump specific ones? Can they be used for cross country too if I change the spikes themselves and if I have a sudden mad rush of blood to the head at some point and enter a race in the future? Does it really matter when my standard of running and jumping is so shockingly low as it is that I may as well run in wellies like BP does?![]()
And why can't they make them pretty and in colours that match my club vest? They all seem to be fluorescent yellow.![]()
Weird. Your feet stopped growing at the age of 12. Yet vertically you stopped at 6!![]()
As for fluorescent yellow. Yuk!

And that kit isn't fluorescent. It's a classic yellow. Harking back to the days when we won the cup final in 1971. A game I'm sure you remember, though obviously I don't because it was a good nine more years before I was born.

As a complete guess, I'd say the number of Arsenal players wearing yellow footwear that day, was zero.

Since sorted, Bish. Oh, and did I tell you that they did yet another 5K yesterday, and they're about to do at least that this afternoon?thebish wrote:see them spare top holes, Bruce? get 'em laced properly!

I think you should be seriously impressed with yourself and the running - the way you've kept it up through thick and thin!

I realise that the technology in a mobile app probably won't be on a par with some of the more technologically advanced systems that use GPS, but does anyone know if paying for a Garmin will produce more accurate results? If they're all pretty much the same, then i'll stick with Nike+ and allow a margin for error of 15-20%. Plus, I have all of my data on there and wouldn't really want to lose it. As inaccurate as it is. So bloody frustrating, but at least I now know what I need to allow for whilst running.

And on the subject of techno-gubbins, I want some really, really good earphones. I'm sick and fed up of buying shite ones that I end up having to fanny about with whilst I'm running. Not too bothered about how much they cost (within reason), just want some gooduns. Any recco's, anyone?

Have you tried calibrating it? There should be an option on the app to do so.Burnden Paddock wrote:I realise that the technology in a mobile app probably won't be on a par with some of the more technologically advanced systems that use GPS, but does anyone know if paying for a Garmin will produce more accurate results? Hills session for me tonight. Going with a friend to spur me on. Back to triple jump training Tuesday and hoping for a swim Thursday.

What? I expect it to do what it says on the tin. Its a mobile app purporting to tell me how far I have run. Wtf should I need to calibrate it? Can you tell me how to do it please?Gooner Girl wrote:Have you tried calibrating it? Good luck with the hills. Starting out with a bit of pain! I'm aching all over after yesterday's efforts. Not been as stiff as this in a long time.
Re: The athletics/running thread
I use the mapmyrun website. I have the app too which struggles with the same problems above but which I just use to record times having used the website to set a route. Just uses Google maps and tends to be pretty accurate on paths through parks etc..

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Just had physio, turns out calf isn't as bad as initially feared. Rehab (weights/drills) has strengthened it and it's reinjured but not torn.
So my darting career can start soon!
