It's the Ratassed Ale Diet. It'll be big next year, I'll make a fortune; I just need a Kate Moss or somebody as the face of it.Harry Genshaw wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I've just taken the BBC Booze test.

See, I like to save all my recommended units of alcohol up and then use them all up in one or two sittings.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: Seriously though, three pints a day. It's nowt. I don't even get pissed.

Each to their own but it does seem excessive to me bud. A minimum of 21 pints a week plus any time you push the boat out at weekends and Wanderers matches
. Seems a lot!

Re: General Chit Chat
The times I push the boat out are very very limited. Maybe five times a year maximum. I eat one meal a day, and count the calories in the pints as another.Harry Genshaw wrote:Each to their own but it does seem excessive to me bud. When asked at the doctors the question and I answer truthfully the nurses always look shocked, but quite a few have confessed that is only because they have a built in under reportage calculation, so when people say a couple at the weekend they really mean they got bladdered, and so if I really do just drink three a day it's not vastly excessive.
Excessive, just not vastly so

Wow... I've just googled it, and it is indeed East Timor, which on reflection ain't a great leap of the imagination, just that I'd never heard it called that.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Never heard of it meselfLost Leopard Spot wrote:Where the fook is Timor-Leste ( anywhere near East Timor????).Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I apparently drink like I'm from Timor-Leste, the eighth lightest drinking nation in the world - that is after drinking more than usual in the last week
But. Anyway, given where you live, which is probably the second lightest drinking nation on the planet, to be drinking like you're in TIMOR-LESTE officially confirms you as a pisshead

You've obviously not visited here then. Massive pissheads abound, particularly of the Brit and Irish variety.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Wow... Correct. And I won't be anytime soon. I'd prefer to slice me own knackers off than pretend I don't want three pints a night as my human right thank you very muchAbdoulaye's Twin wrote:You've obviously not visited here then. You're allowed to drink, as long you have a licence, not drunk in public and basically not upsetting the law or anyone important.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: Correct. And I won't be anytime soon. Re: General Chit Chat
Very little imagination really since Timor is Portuguese (the original colonists) for Timur, which is Indonesian for East. Leste is Portuguese for East. Calling a place East East is not too imaginative. As one of the few Christian countries in a sea of Islam, I suppose it may change before too long.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: Wow... Re: General Chit Chat
Trying to jog someone's memory here. I was reading somewhere that Pedro Cuadrado (of Halliwell Road Taverna Pedro fame) used to sing in a place called the Casablanca Tavern in Bolton. Try as I may I can't remember it. Might have been when I was away in Yorks, but does anybody recall it? I spent many nights in Pedro's but the other is a blank (no pun intended).

The Evening News called it the Casablanca Tavern, but apparently it was just called The Casablanca. Apparently it was on Deansgate beside Whitakers. See for example http://www.edwardianteddyboy.com/page21.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: General Chit Chat
Cheers Monty. I'm familiar with that site from rock and roll and 50's dance interest. The Casablanca itself I have no recollection of at all. You can look up Pedro Cuadrado, Bolton (Cuadrado Hernandez but just "Pedro" to us all who knew him). I knew a bloke who played Spanish guitar in The Lamplighter near the Market Hall, but Pedro apparently did a bit of singing at this Casablanca place. Just interesting.Montreal Wanderer wrote:TANGODANCER wrote:Trying to jog someone's memory here. The bar at our Christmas do last night had a selection of 68 different gins - we got through most of them.Worthy4England wrote:I might have had a couple of unit advances. One was a gin from Burnley, which as you'd expect was both strong and rough!

I love it that there are quotas on drinking, cos I know a lot of folk that don't use theirs
