Love it!
Had a youtube day listening to lots of Tim Minchin.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.
Re: What are you playing tonight?
Mathematically the most romantic song I've ever heard:
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Lloyd Cole & The Commotions live at Glastonbury in 1986. Just looked at the lineup for that year and The Psychedelic Furs headlined on the Friday, and Gil Scott Heron on the Sunday. 4ucked up there, didn't I?

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Not tonight, Josephine, but in a few days. Courtesy of my son and his wife's gift card I have purchased a 3 CD set of Tchaikovsky as performed under the baton of the late Herbert Von Karajan. I am rather looking forward to it.
CD 1 TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphony no. 6 ‘Pathétique' (1977)
CD 2 TCHAIKOVSKY: Serenade for Strings op. 48 / DVORAK: Serenade for Strings op. 22
CD 3 TCHAIKOVSKY: Ballet Suites: Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty
I can see a couple of wasted afternoons approaching.
Why Dvorak slipped into the collection escapes me but it seems that he did. Not that it's a bother, he did compose some decent music (I rather liked the New World Symphony until I bought a new vinyl reproduction which was horrible - not for the music but for the recording ).

Brucie alert - watching the BDO darts (shite, obv) but the canadian lad Jeff Smith who is now in the quarters has the Tragically Hip as his walk-on music.

So, Jeff Smith. A man who shares his name with our former singing postman AND walks out to The Hip? I finally have a darts hero. Re: What are you playing tonight?
on my drive home from Sidmouth this very evening - my saved episode of The Archers Omnibus ended with another half an hour to go... what do do???
I rummaged about in the dusty corners of my MP3 player and found an Alanis Morisette album - Supposed Former Infatuation...
no idea how that got there as I didn't get into her stuff first time around - presume it was Miss Bish at some time in the past..
anyway - gave it a go - and, would you believe it - though she presumably must be as mad as the proverbial bag of ferrets - there are some cracking choons on there - one of which i even recognised! Absolutely no idea what any of her lyrics are actually about - but they are at least interesting and she sounds like she means it!

(well, on past AM form, probably not.)
Re: What are you playing tonight?
I think the whole (not) ironic thing was precisely the reason why I had dismissed her work in the past!EverSoYouri wrote:Isn't this ironic?thebish wrote:on my drive home from Sidmouth this very evening - my saved episode of The Archers Omnibus ended with another half an hour to go... what do do???

I recall enjoying an album of hers whilst decorating the flat in 1996. That is all, nothing interesting to addthebish wrote:on my drive home from Sidmouth this very evening - my saved episode of The Archers Omnibus ended with another half an hour to go... what do do???

They're grand, LLS. Really good fun live, too, if you can catch them.

Re: What are you playing tonight?
FECK!!! I genuinely thought Enablers were playing with Kayo Dot in Manchester next month and nearly lost my shit. I have since found out they're not, and now I'm just flat-out pissed off.
You jammy b'stard!
Still, tickets for Mew go on sale tomorrow morning and tomorrow evening I'm having my ears caressed by Mark Lanegan. Not bad!
