Yeah, I've been disappointed with the garstang Blue the last couple of times. I've a feeling as a company they've grown too big too fast, and quality has suffered.

Yeah. S'alright, a bit non-descript.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I like it.. It's not overly strong, which I prefer. I don't like the ones that make you feel like you're about to suck your cheeks down your throat.

Saw the Blacksticks Blue in Asda theneet and it just didn't look, well, blue enough really so picked up a chunk of Cantorel Bleu d'Auvergne. I'll see how it goes. The Garstang Blue's going in the bin - it's quite nice whilst eating it but it has an aftertaste of having just licked the top of a battery that's been marinated in piss. And it doesn't go away anytime soon either! Awful stuff.

If any of you find yourself at the xmas markets, and can track down the small French cheese stall in front of the town hall) buy some Bethmale and Beaufort off him In fact, try all his cheeses. Preferably any of his unpasteurised ewe or sheep's You will then understand.
But I warn you, once you do this, you'll be crossing the Rubicon, going through the looking glass, down the rabbit hole. Cathedral City (or indeed Blacksticks Blue) will never quite taste the same again.

Verbals and I are taking over London. Last night was inaugural pie night. He made a swish Turkey, Ham, Leek, Carrot, Tarragon and other shit thing. I made woman's chicken pie recipe, which are really pasties, but I haven't the heart to tell her. Either way, it was shit hot. Weekly occurrence. We're going to be fat little f*ckers very soon. No photos though, coz this isn't Instagram, and we're not wankers.

See, this is what I fear I've done with the Danablu that I picked up in Copenhagen. The bar is now set to 'fecking high'.Lord Kangana wrote: But I warn you, once you do this, you'll be crossing the Rubicon, going through the looking glass, down the rabbit hole. Wife picked up some Wafer-thin, West Coutry Famhouse Cheddar from the deli department. Not for eating on its own or with crackers etc, but just grand on sandwiches with tomatoes, lettuce, crisps etc.

Indeed. When I was training, we learned through comparative tasting. Lots of things taste good until you taste the real-deal top-of-the-shop stuff. Its never quite the same with the ordinary afterwards.Bruce Rioja wrote:See, this is what I fear I've done with the Danablu that I picked up in Copenhagen. I'd get googling for that cheese Bruce, that feeling will never leave you, your tastebuds have learned.

Drawn a blank, Chef. I'll have to draw on Danish associates to send some over. Am happy to buy you a chunk if you like - I'd appreciate your comments (and it travels very well).Lord Kangana wrote: I'd get googling for that cheese Bruce, that feeling will never leave you, your tastebuds have learned.
