Not a little known fact, per se, and not ENTIRELY related to Wolf Pack behaviour, I caught a few minutes of a programme last night on BBC2 where in Churchill an annual scenario plays out whereby Polar Bears (waiting for the sea to ice over) come into contact with a pack of huskies stationed out on a spit of land. Rather than killing and eating them the (almost starving) bears interact in an entirely unexpected way.

Who's the Alpha in THAT relationship?

Yep that is ace , I've never seen that before, so it definitely comes under the little known umbrella.
(But as for who's the alpha, tut tut GtE, it won't be a dog coz they don't have them - do pay attention . That bear looks pretty fecking alpha to me!)

Within their genus perhaps. But what about inter-species relationships. Who, for instance, would be the alpha partner in this 'relationship'

The 'mating' of the Angler Fish was discussed and illustrated on this programme too.

That's grimmer than anything I've heard of. At least with the Prying Mantis it's a quick shag then off with your head. This, this is....... horrible.
