Re: What are you watching tonight?
Been on a mission tonight again. Still trying to find a film with Steven Segal in it that isn't worse than the last one. They just get progressivly more awful. Guess it's a hopeless task then. "In Segal we trust"? Bull shiiiiit.

True Grit. Enjoyed it - the girl was superb but as usual Jeff Bridges was terrible.
Enjoyable film, mind.

True Grit's good
Watched Gran Torino, was excellent.
One of those rare modern films that could have been filmed any time and still been relevant

Just watched The Girl That Kicked The Hornet's Nest (after swatting up on its predecessor). I nearly gave up on it early on but am glad that I stuck with it - it morphed into a very decent film indeed, I thought.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Xmen, listen to this and ask if it sounds familiar, it's in white cos there's mild spoilers:
Kid, doesn't realise he has special powers
Evil dude wants special powers for himself, kills parents
Over time, anger builds, need for vengeance sets in
Big over-arching political situation blowing up, kid gets involved, now a grown man
He is helped by someone "good" who also has special powers
In the end, war is averted, vengeance is exacted, and the kid decides to be bad
There's a do-scrap and one of the guys winds up disabled
In truth, it's brilliant and so much better that the last 2 films, and also the 3 films I'm comparing it to above. It has real "TV" pacing about it, so nothing gets dwelled on and some character developments are a line of script and nowt more, but tis good.
The director said he used old Bond films as an inspiration, and that comes across too.

I watched Sirens last night on 4
Comedy drama about a paramedic team with the guy who plays the Fonejacker Kayvan Novak? (sp)
Anyway, not bad for a first outing. Humour, Pathos, frequent sexual references. Even something for the male homosexual community.

Generic Northern Townsville.
And yes, the Blond Copper. She could bring her costume home too.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Finally got round to watching POTC4 last night. It's not quite as bad as the critics would have you believe, but you can tell that they're just starting to properly stretch the bastard series out, just when they're planning another two. They should have let it die after #3, #4 definitely misses the Knightly/Bloom/Depp chemistry...

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Which is a laugh, as Bloom and Knightly have about as much charisma as David Cameron

X-Men First Class, watched last night.
Mostly good. Fassbender was fantastic in every scene, though his accent did some fair roaming and just settled on Irish by the end. McAvoy spent the majority of the film putting his fingers to his temple and saying 'now everyone be quiet I'm trying to be a SERIOUS actor', but was ok for the most part.
Cracking cameo, too.

Luther was fantastic.
No Alice though, which was a disappointment. Shame that it is the last episode next week already

The cameo was all the better that I wasn't expecting it.Verbal wrote:X-Men First Class, watched last night.

Do you agree with my post on last page, that it's essentially a re-make of Star Wars Prequels
