The Seventies were a pretty good time musically. Had some Cat Stevens, ( Gee, I love this song with Alun Davies...

Ralph McTell, Peter Sarsdedt (1969) and others on this morning. Now got Manfred Mann's Jupiter inspired Joybringer firmly fixed for the day.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

No, we're trying to stay as far away as possible, toking on e-cigs, in case you get the quid in the jukebox first...Harry Genshaw wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Harry Genshaw wrote:After Kanui and Lula anything would have been a welcome respite!I am, I'm surrounded by heathens!

a small step away from Motorhead...
today I am reminiscing part of my childhood soundtrack - Gilbert O'Sullivan (my older sister was a big fan!)
I hated it back then (prob. association with sister!)
but - despite having not listened to it for about 40yrs - I find I know all the words and every key change!
the Berry Vest of Gilbert O'Sullivan - there are some lovely songs on there...

^^ a friend of mine utterly adores the man. Seen him twice on his current tour including once as a VIP where they met before & after. She swears his the 2nd greatest artist ever.
(Her favourite being Colin Blunstone).
I have always found him a bit weird & creepy and never really got over his song " Claire" which was downright creepy.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

100% agree on the creepiness of Clair!!bobo the clown wrote:^^ a friend of mine utterly adores the man. Seen him twice on his current tour including once as a VIP where they met before & after. She swears his the 2nd greatest artist ever.

Clair, if ever a moment so rare
Was captured for all to compare
That moment is you in all that you do
But why in spite of our age difference do I cry
Each time I leave you I feel I could die
Nothing means more to me than hearing you say
"I'm going to marry you
Will you marry me, Uncle Ray"
Oh, Clair

All you need to know to figure it out is that the songster himself is Ray Voyant. Uncle Ray Voyant!
So if she marries him she becomes her own aunt, Clair Voyant. Aunty Clair Voyant. Not easy to see through, I know, but the clues are there.

Shearwater.
American indie band I saw at the the Brudenell Social Club the other night. Really enjoying their Jet Plane and Oxbow album this is off. Never heard of them until a mate suggested the gig.

i also like the "we will" lyrics - there's summat engaging and a bit quirky about them..
It's over now
you've had your fun
get up them stairs go on quickly don't run
Take off your shoes the both of you's [AND] leave them down outside the door
turn the landing light off,
no wait, leave it on
it might make the night
that [MUCH] easier to be gone
and in the morning who'll be wide awake
and eating snow flakes as
opposed to those flakes
(We Will) We Will (We Will) We will

Bowie's Blackstar.
I'll need to play it again, but so far I think it'll be up there with Station to Station. Not in the league of Ziggy however...

A great album, & one of many great album titles with a fnrrrr, fnrrrr, value! I remember years ago seeing them live a few times & Coverdale virtually shagging the mike stand every song. Great days though, & about £2.00 a ticket for Manny Apollo

Indeed. I have a saints and sinners baseball shirt from the '82 tour and a programme from the same. Worth a lot of money nowadays. I wear it sometimes to go down the pub just to piss my mate off. The shirt. Not the programme.
