I think they're looking for methane. Not water. And about 99% of humanity don't give a fxck either. But then 99% of humanity couldn't do anything about it one way or the other. Thank fxck that 1% of humanity might rescue the 99% who are still with the neanderthal 'flint, don't care if we never find any more flint again' brigade.
And reading that back, yeah, I'm calling you a Neanderthal. Soz!
Because I don't care what they do or don't find on another planet? Good. Because otherwise I'd be sucked into being some or other pseudo intellectual. Methane comes out of arseholes - search closer to home!
I'm not interested particularly either. But I see why it is important to know about our Universe. And whilst it might not impact upon our lives right now, it could have huge implications for the future.
Is this your cap?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

They are searching for it because it is a probable indicator of life... on another planet. Not much point searching closer to home for life on another planet, is there?

There's not much point in searching for life on another planet though, which is my initial point.

^ entirely backing up my theory that the hideous new "Madonna" statue at Ely Cathedral (in the lady chapel) is modelled on Charlie Dimmock...

aye - it is truly hideous!! Germaine Greer wrote a pretty good rant about it when it was unveiled a few years ago...

A bit unfair on Charlie who just looks like she should ease off on the pies a tad. That statue could be used as an explanation as to what the Commandment about "graven images" means. Looks like a drunken er,"big-girl" doing the hokey-kokey.

HMRC have been on. This year I'll be able to earn £444 before they get their claws into me, which is better than the usual K coding, I suppose.
