It's a real bugger too, when you've already done 48 of them.

I have seen the cost of funerals - it pays for the little luxuries of my life! 8)

Incredibly quick decision by New International though, given that it's one of the few profitable printed papers around. I suppose with my cynic's hat on, NI would expect to mop up a large chunk of its readership with its other titles. And it might well remove a potential obstacle to Murdoch's ambition to buy out the minority shareholders in BSkyB.... but still!
Quite. I thought maybe there would be a lull for a while, but still reckoned they'd be able to ride it out; its market share was so, so dominant and only a handful of its advertisers had actually pulled out.

The brand has been poisoned though. Newscorp stocks slid by about a billion on Wednesday, and although Murdoch obviously must have some sentimental attachment with NOTW (his first UK acquisition AFAIK) he's fundamentally a businessman. He's wise enough to know that without readers' and advertisers trust, NoTW is dead.

News of the World had the country's biggest readership for a national paper but has been losing readers since the 80s, and the obvious priority now is digital media..something Murdoch sees with Sky. He couldn't let the affairs of a (comparatively) small, dying medium jeapordise his bid for digital domination. The decision still may have been too late.

And, this is the saddest thing, there are 2.5 million people who aren't going to read a newspaper on a Sunday anymore.
No this is one of the funniest things I've read in ages.

We should start a disaster fund. I wonder if any newspapers out there would like to sponsor it as a good cause.

Also, is it just me or is that Rebekah Brookes a bit fit

Photographed right she does look very tasty, but then you see the odd haggard photograph which shows the true effects of years of chomping down on Rupert Murdochs wizened-old dust-pumping spunk trumpet.

Hideous.

i'm messing about, its about mr julian and how he did what he did and how the notw and the rest do similar.

they all do it to further their own agenda / make money . its messed up. i read the other day that the mirror and the mail have 900 PI's each. if a Nth of them are mulcare / julians mates grubby then its a lot.

what do they call it.. money is in the personal details game. facebook , google , this leaks shit , all make someone else more money for next to no effort.

fecking everybody should learn how PGP (or similar) works. for their own sake.

and delete their facebook.

or a least dont have an answerphone.

plus i got a south park reference in. win.

:/

My usual pre and post match drinking hovel The Greenwood pub to be knocked down within weeks. A bit of a dive, but Ive got a lot of memories from there, gutted.

Hopefully the final night will be a bit like the last game at Burnden; chairs, tables, toilet seats, doors and all sorts removed!
