Re: The athletics/running thread
Had a great weekend. Saturday was a 65 mile bike ride yesterday in 3hrs 45mins with a 2 mile run to finish.
Today I did my first race of the season. 400m pool swim 20km bike ride and a 5km run to finish. Time was 1:18:18 Very happy with my time. The training seems to be paying off.

After many years considering exercise as "having to walk round the other fat lad at the bar to order another pint", I started doing a little walking last Thursday. Just 0.8Km day 1, then 3Km days 2, 3 and 4. Today I conquered 5K...
When can I apply for my first injury and just do breakfast?

Once you have found a paving stone to trip over! You can then sue the Council and enjoy free breakfasts. It's a win win!Worthy4England wrote:After many years considering exercise as "having to walk round the other fat lad at the bar to order another pint", I started doing a little walking last Thursday. Well done Worthy. Dont feel like you have to do this just to share breakfast. Any herbert is welcome, even Lever End, who only runs once a year! A lot faster than us mind you. Oh the shame of it. Somewhere my "tracker" changed from Km to Miles...So I legged it round three miles today (which is just shy of 5Km)...Slackass.
Oh and one of my earbuds dropped out, on the way out and I had to stop to find it. Does this count as an injury?

Your cutting remark about us all binning off the running in favour of the brekkie was duly noted.Gary the Enfield wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:Thought I'd ease the ankle back into it tonight with a three. I'm thinking of having a jog around Great Notley PR at Braintree at the weekend with my sister in law. I'll go for a light jog tonight and see how it goes. Then i'll check the weather forecastBruce Rioja wrote:Thought I'd ease the ankle back into it tonight with a three.
