Re: The athletics/running thread
Well done LE. As I've only ever done Bolton it may take me a while to acheive 50 runs.
Today I managed just over 6 miles. Last 2.5 miles were (mainly) uphill and was pleased my overall average was 8.11 pace.

Re: The athletics/running thread
The Coniston marathon yesterday was a bit of a trial. Got my nutrition & breakfast all wrong and this allied to the scorching heat and need for water made for a pretty dreadful 5 hours. The first 8 or so miles went pretty well but it was surprising how quickly things deteriorated afterwards and I just couldn't pull it back. In all honesty if there'd been a sweep vehicle I'd have jacked it at 17 miles. That there wasn't meant I just had to suck it up and get on with it. It was almost comforting once I got back to see how many others had suffered too. Hopefully I'll learn from this prior to the ultra in 3 weeks time!

Cheers Bruce. I'm glad to have got round but it's definitely one to be filed in the 'must do better' drawerBruce Rioja wrote:A most splendid effort, HG. Well done, mate.

Sounds brutal. You said you struggled on this one last time you did it I recall. Chalk it off as done. It won't be that warm next time. #prayfordrizzle

I didn't know that there was a Toby Carvery at Coniston.Harry Genshaw wrote:The Coniston marathon yesterday was a bit of a trial. Today is bike repair day. Think I'm probably walking about as fast as I can go and not interested in running at the moment. Still 7 bags of sugar off so far....

Re: The athletics/running thread
Is it a road bike or a hybrid?
If it's a hybrid you may want to invest in a more comfortable saddle.
If it's a road bike you might want to look at some bib shorts. And chamois cream.

Big International Triathlon in Leeds on Sunday. Swimming in the lake ar roundhay park and the cycling course passes the end of my street. Both Brownlees competing and a couple of Bolton harriers friends doing the mass participation event. 6000 participants in all, should be worth a watch.

Re: The athletics/running thread
I've just seen the notification that there are Pikeys along the out and back at LHP. If someone brings some accelerant and matches along on Saturday we can make our own brekkers. Gypsy toast, anyone?

I'd be more concerned about the 'dags' if I were you.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Happy as a pig in muck. Did a 10k race tonight as part of a summer interclub series. It was in Trent Park so a familiar course and I was delighted to finish in 44mins 43 secs. Not a pb but not far off. My trainings obviously paying off. It's the fastest I've run in nearly 2 years.
