Re: The Politics Thread
One of my brothers works for TNT. He once told me how one of their lorries was stopped on the Falls Road, the driver ordered out and then the lorry set ablaze - because it was orange. The B&Q Warehouse in Newry has its signage in red rather than orange to keep it from getting burned down. That's the kind of shit-headed 4ucktard mentality that we're dealing with here!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I don't think sensitive artistic types last very long on Shanklin/Falls/Crumlin RoadBruce Rioja wrote:In which case they should get someone that's good at it in to do it. Never mind, the piercing eye will get them! And that's another thing, how come when we've got an English news story it's Oily Gearring or some Scot presenting it, but whenever it's Ulster news stories the presenter has the most Ulsterish accent that can be found. It took me months to work out that the mysterious Piercing Eye is in fact the PSNI (police service of nothin island).

I was most disappointed when they chose not to call themselves the Northern Irish Police Service.
The feck-wittedness over certain colours extends to these shores too.

I don't suppose they're too welcoming to Martians in Larkhall.

The snout in trough pig should be drummed out immediately given all that’s happened on the expenses front, it smacks of sheer arrogance.

Re: The Politics Thread
I might need to revise that. The BBC doesn't even recognise this as a news story, it's not even buried in the margins of the Politics page, so it might just be quietly dropped. Interesting to see on that page a link to "too sick to stand trial ex MP'ess Margaret Moran is well enough to take nice breaks in her Spanish property.Hoboh wrote:I'm not afraid she's got to go!mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... story.html

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The Politics Thread
Its interesting that it only appears to be The Telegraph thats still looking under rocks on this one. Perhaps the Leveson threat wasn't so idle, and wasn't confined to one newspaper?
Theres still clearly legs in the story, and it appears a significant proportion of MPs are, shall we say, not playing by the spirit of the rules, as much as breaking them? I suppose you can act with impunity when you get to make your own rules up...

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Another hair-brained Conservative idea.
Very little winds me up in politics more than Conservatives being simultaneously ludicrously moralistic and senselessly impractical.

Unsurprising but I found the idea of reducing redundancy notice from 90 days to 45 days more annoying to be honestmummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:http://conservativehome.blogs.com/parli ... s-and.html
