What are you watching tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

on the back of all the Emmy fuss i 'acquired' the first season of Modern Family. watched the first four last night - its pretty funny!

also got, after always scoffing at the mention of it before, Downton Abbey - but not looked at that yet

Im the opposite, other than the forgettable Mars Attacks, I can't think of a film with Jack Nicholson in it that I dont like.

favourites being his more subtle roles, Terms of Endearment, About Schmidt, As good as it gets.. but also love The Shining, Batman, Cuckoo, Hoffa, Few good men.. etc etc. not so much The Departed tho, but i blame big raymond for ruining that.

Modern Family is a bit overrated in my view. It's funny, but not deserving of such praise and awards. Also it has one of the most annoying characters on TV.

Parks and Recreation is far better imo.

don't knock Downton - it's the kind of comforting fluff that sunday evenings were made for!

No, Sunday Evenings require Midsomer Murders, or Morse, or Taggart....

I'll grant you taggart - but Midsomer Murders and Morse can join celery in the bin of history as far as I am concerned!

I wasn't asking you to grant me anything, thanks very much. :-)

I think you have been forthcoming on Midsomer Murders on previous occasions.

Thought you might have found affinity with Morse, what with him being a picky owd bugger too.

If you can so "no" to my Downton option - surely i can say no (or yes) to your options!

I did once enjoy Morse - but really only because I went to college in Oxford and it was (for a while) amusing to play spot the pubs we have been in etc.. "ooh look - there's the Turl" etc. but it soon paled and I don't think I ever stayed awake for the full 2hrs of any episode... I actually prefer the successor - Lewis, largely because his sergeant is an interesting character...

anyway - sunday evenings are REALLY for the antiques roadshow and Lark Rise to Candleford!

I've done plenty of the pubs in Oxford too. :-) Stayed at the Turf for a week on a cricket tour, and stayed at the Randolph last time I was down there.

Bottom line is Sunday's require a high body count, to save poor souls on Monday morning. So can live with Lewis as an alternative, wasn't sure how that would pan out when Morse died, but they've managed it pretty well.

I can live with the Antiques Roadshow as a preference to anything that looks like a period drama...

by the time sunday evening arrives I have usually had a full day's work at the end of a week - and am pretty much shagged (Monday is my day off) - I usually have a big glass of red wine - and so there is rarely anything I don't sleep through. anything too shouty is not appropriate - far better a slow moving period drama that I can sleep through half of and not actually miss anything. Morse was slow-moving, but if you nod off you usually miss some crucial information in the case...

Lewis is better than Morse.

I enjoy Downton Abbey though probably more for the architecture on display rather than the story.

About to watch 'Chasing Legends'. Fantastic film if you like your cycling, or would like an insight to the TDF, & professional cycling.

Sunday nights just remind me of Last Of The Summer bloody Wine. Someone always ends up going down a hill in a runaway bathtub or some home made cart, terrible!

aye - am sure EVERY episode ended with the downhill bathtub or the home-made cart - or motorbike and sidecar that got separated....

then there was heartbeat and the Royal... :vomit:

some of us are old enough to remember decent sunday telly - like the Onedin Line - and wasn't Howard's Way on a sunday? if not, it should have been!
