My first stab at Moroccan Lamb Tagine isn't ready for another 45 minutes. I'm famished. It's been on for yonks already. Whose idea was this? Oh!

I left the remainder in the tagine on the stove overnight. Have now doctored it with Moroccan spice, allspice, ginger and cumin and have slapped it back in the oven. Just had a sample taste - oh boythebish wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:Was OK, nowt more.William the White wrote:Bet it was brilliant... This is where we buy our ras el hanout, Bruce. Of course, you may be happy with your Moroccan spice.Bruce Rioja wrote:

Brilliant. Thanks, William. No, I'm not in the least bit happy with Moroccan spice. One may as well add dust to a dish.William the White wrote:This is where we buy our ras el hanout, Bruce. Of course, you may be happy with your Moroccan spice.Bruce Rioja wrote:

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Oh dear. Nipped to Tesco today to pick up stuff that I forgot to buy on Friday. OK, to further stock up on the Tagus Creek whilst it's still on offer. Anyway, I don't ordinarily bother with the bacteria cabinet but sometimes curiosity gets the better of me, and today it did. All wrapped up in white and blue plastic, an otherwise mystery object displayed on its sticker 'Lemon Sole £1.89. Best Before 21/10/13'. As such, I bought it for tomorrow's dinner.
It's only now that I've unwrapped it that I've realised that the fecking thing's whole. Head on, guts in and the lot.
Help.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Its only fish. Just cook it and leave the bits you don't like the look of.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Ah, thankfully it doesn't appear to come with many gizzards.

^ Ha ha ha. He makes it look so easy. Hee he. I remember doing A level biology and having similar instruction regarding a postmortem on a frog we were doing. Nobody's frog looked like the demo model, and I mean nobody's.

You're better off cooking it first then trimming it. Its much easier for beginners.

Also, remember the cautionary tale of Bobo and the carrots and the bloke I know and the pruning shears. You don't want to end up with seven fingers and two thumbs...Lord Kangana wrote:You're better off cooking it first then trimming it. Its much easier for beginners.

Indeed, chaps. I already have a deformed thumb thanks to wrestling with a tin of corned beef once.
Just seen another recipe which suggests baking it whole (presumably I still have to get its gizzards out first though). So that's this evening's dinner - tray baked lemon sole roasted with asparagus and plum tomatoes.

Leave them in - they cook solid.
