Second Parkrun back after injury this morning. 27:46 at Worsley, which is an improvement of 1m 46s on 2 weeks ago and a course PB by 22 seconds. Very happy with that!

I will, next week. Hopefully. Yesterday's rather enthusiastic goal celebrations stupidly/understandably resulted in more back pain.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2017 4:02 pmWell done, mate. Apologies to HG for almost pushing him over the seats in my excitement!

Quite right to apologise. Thought dry humping him was bang out of order too.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2017 8:48 pmI will, next week. Hopefully. Re: The athletics/running thread
Just back from my first open water swim session of the season. 1.25km water no more than 14 degrees.
So cold but happy to have broken the ice. Almost literally.

Keep thinking of going to Ilkley Lido but keep bottling it. Tough hill session tonight. Horrible but exactly what I need. 19 days til I'm pounding Beverley's pavements.Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2017 8:41 pmJust back from my first open water swim session of the season. 1.25km water no more than 14 degrees.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Not running indeed, but a minor form of athleticism:
We have had our dog for eleven years. Since I retired seven years ago, apart from holidays couple of weeks etc, (we haven't been away for five years now) I have taken him for a walk twice a day for every day of that time, sunshine, hail rain or snow. We walk on average about two miles per day, that's fourteen miles per week times fifty two weeks per year is seven hundred and twenty eight miles per year. Seven years times that is five thousand and ninety six miles. Deducting any missed days, that's still a lot of walking miles for a wee doggie. (It's a hell of a lot for me too)

I remember when my dad got a dog it did him loads of good fitnesswise. Probably better for you than my routine of hammering myself til i get injured then sitting on my arse binge drinking and eating til it's better!

That's good going Tango. Dog walking is now a regular part of my training routine so even if I've been pretty idle, having one means you still get out. Mrs G has one of these fit bit things and the poor dog gets dragged along with that too. She did 40000 steps with him over Rivington the other Saturday. He'd have done 4 times that with all his charging around.
Anyone at LHP this Saturday?

Re: The athletics/running thread
I didn't count the four years I was still at work in that total Harry, but I still did quite a few evening walks and also weekends back then. When I retired an old guy near me advised me, "whatever you do, keep exercising or you'll soon go to seed". Thankfully, even with an arthritic knee, I took his advice. Getting the dog was a real boon although there are some days when it's pxssing down I might not think so. The dancing helped a bit too.., oh, and it's four years this month since I packed up smoking. :Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2017 5:14 pmThat's good going Tango. Well done TD. For both the smoking and the walking. When he retired my dad took up a paper round. Walks around 4 miles a day.
Re: The athletics/running thread
Honestly, it takes until the third post for anyone to pick up BP on his unlimited sausage?

As per above I was subject to his sausage at Port Vale when he put his back out. Unlimited is a generous description though!

Swansea Bay parkrun mid stag do. Will be interesting. I think the plan is a couple of quiet beers tonight before the main night out tomorrow. Can't see that going wrong

Re: The athletics/running thread
They've wimped out on that one, running along the sea front. Swansea (or Abertawe if you prefer) sits between two massive mountains. Get ran up on of those, you big girl.
Enfield - you deffo up tomorrow? I have a couple of t-shirts from last week's Bolton 10K. They're supposedly large. They're not. Will possibly just about fit you and missy/Mrs E. So you can have them.
