You're just being controversial...Montreal Wanderer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 5:59 pmI got my wife back home with her new titanium hip after two days in the hospital. It was a pretty amazing process. It took a while to see a rheumatologist in order to get a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. Once we saw the latter things speeded up and the system worked quite impressively. Now they send nurses and physical therapists to the house. It's all working out a lot better than I expected given what is generally said about our Medicare system.

We live and learn ( to be wary of having a haircut in Farnworth) This from source:
James Billington had a life long fascination with hanging and had unsuccessfully applied for Marwood's post but managed to secure the Yorkshire hangman's position. Like Henry Pierrepoint he was to found a dynasty of hangmen. James ran a barber shop in Farnworth when not engaged in executions. He executed 141 men and five women in England and Wales, at least one man in Ireland and three men in Scotland.
Short back and front sir?

Men and women. Been around and co-existed a long time as they were ( are the ever-present small percentage of non-conformist in any era any sort of indication of the general staus quo?), so why is all this current, what I as an old dinasaur call total bullshxt, that's existing amongst the outraged twitter-twxtters and faceache bookers, suddenly such an issue? There have probably been people disrespectful to me since I learned to tie my shoes laces, so, big deal? There will always be men and women. "Most" folk accept them as equals and treat accordingly. It started that way, it'll finish thus. What's going on?

Chris is still active and in charge of our rare books (formerly history of medicine librarian). I am emeritus, a fancy word for passé. The greatest railway journey I ever took was in August 1961 from Moscow to the Hook of Holland. Unfortunately they decided to build the Berlin Wall with us of the wrong side and stuck us in a siding while they worked matters out. I was therefore one of the first to get through the Wall from East to West when they let us go.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 6:46 pmMichael Portillo on Great Railway Journeys tonight talking to Christopher Lyons, librarian of McGill University at Montreal. If you want to see me appear a few times in a documentary, Spotty, you can see me in "The Boy Who was Bullied" as former Law Librarian. My field was the international law of human rights and I am literary executor of the main protagonist of the film. He wrote the first dradt of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Alas, the film is long so may not hold the attention. The film is at http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2417433288 .Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 6:46 pmMichael Portillo on Great Railway Journeys tonight talking to Christopher Lyons, librarian of McGill University at Montreal. Re: General Chit Chat
Right, it seems that I am now back. Yes, I have mentioned it elsewhere but make no apology for that.
I would like to thank Monty and Tango (or Tango and Monty) for their assistance in helping me to communicate with our Honourable Administrator, DJBlu. Yes, I am aware that I am repeating myself, but I really appreciate the time that T & M have taken in helping to get the site working properly.
I shall now try to create a new web persona in order to check the workings of the site for new members.

Re: General Chit Chat
So, lets get this right, Germany, more people, 13,000 premature deaths, UK figures quoted as 40,000 plus? and folk wonder why people think the tree huggers lie through their teeth or use 'make up' scare figures. The country’s Federal Administration Court, in Leipzig, backed the move to restrict diesel-car use after it was reported that 70 German cities have NOx levels which exceed EU limits.
While other countries - including the UK - are also considering restrictions on diesel cars, especially in built-up areas, a widespread block in the birthplace of the modern automobile is a new blow for the motor industry and Chancellor Angela Merkel's government, which had resolutely opposed the ban until now.
The ruling came after German states appealed against restrictions imposed by local courts in Stuttgart and Dusseldorf in cases brought by environmental group DUH over poor air quality that it said was the cause of 13,000 premature deaths each year.

Still I suppose I should really 'get it' after all the problems with Waring tribes in Africa, the subsequent famines and such are all the fault of the British and Stalin should have a statue in Trafalgar square, not Nelson, who kicked the crap out of our trusted, loyal EU partners the French for no good reason.
Remember it's 2018, it's always someone else's fault (or the Brits) according to rewritten history by the Marxist lovies.

Re: General Chit Chat
Or maybe there is a higher density of people and cars in some cities in the UK, which would likely cause a greater number of problems. Probably doesn't help that every other fcuker in London seems to have a wood burning stove these days...
Re: General Chit Chat

Career crook killed by pensioner 'didn't deserve to die', say family

Re: General Chit Chat
Having read the reports (which I assume to be accurate) about him, his father and his five uncles' 'exploits' in the past, I'd agree that he and his family are pretty much the very definition of scumbags, and while not exactly agreeing that he deserved to die, I won't be mourning the fxcker either.
What concerns me more is that the innocent householder is now facing a murder charge, and even if ultimately he's not charged, he shouldn't have to go through the shxt he is facing just because an invading scumbag happened to get skewered on his own implement.
I also think that in his, the innocent householder's case, it should be in Justice's interest that his name should have been withheld so that (specifically) the scumbag uncles, scumbag aunties, and all the scumbag family of the perished one cannot vent their misplaced scumbag spleen against him, the innocent one.
