Those Scots that don't want independence are not necessarily the ones who are going to make the effort to vote. Those that do will be motivated. There's a year to pack the country out with expat Scots, they'll all register at their parent's houses. Plus, special legislation is being enacted to enable 16 and 17 year olds to vote - it's a fair assessment that those who are giving the vote to them (pro-independencers) will gain most of the grateful teens' votes.
And although most of the polls are showing against, I know the Scots, and they won't be able to resist their innate sense of putting one to the Sasenachs, and a fair percentage will vote Yes even though deep down they know it's a mistake, but they'll think that because the polls are telling them a No is a certainty it won't matter if just they do a little Yes spoiler.
Believe me, the Scots'll wake up on September 19th and find themselves independent and wonder how the fxck that happened.

How is voting yes putting it to the Sasenachs? I'd be surprised if even 75% of us give a shite one way or the other and 90% of the rest want them to fck off.
Voting no and continuing to leech of the English would be more akin to putting it to us don't you think?

You'll regret saying that in 2015 after the Scots' cousins the Cornish, newly independent, start cross-border raids into Devon and cart off your wife and dog.

I'm looking at it from their point of view, which is not necessarily the same viewpoint taken by us logical Englishmen.

Personally, I'm all for outdoing the feckers and having a plebiscite in England on the 17th September to eject them from the club.

Personally I'll never understand this tribalistic, nationalistic bollocks that people come out with.

Why would we want "rid of Scotland"? Why?

I don't understand it. At what point does it not become tribal?

Being from the North of England I associate a lot more with the Scottish and their issues with the "Southern England agenda" of our government than I do with fecking London and the South East.

The distinction is so fecking trivial. People are people, irrespective of what side of a border they were born on.

I just laugh that the people so happy for Scotland to "piss off" cos they don't like the SNP are the ones who are so nationalistic themselves.

England is nowt special. Just another country on a map. There are hundreds of em. Many are better in a whole lot of ways. Many are worse in a whole lot of ways.

We aren't special, never have been never will be. Live with it.

i think you have this the wrong way round... the scots want rid of US - not the other way around - it is the SCOTS who are voting on this - not us...

It's not irony at all. It's where I'm from.

The irony would be if I was advocating a split in the UK, but I'm not.

I'm saying quite the opposite.

My whole point is, it's rather arbitrary labelling someone as Scottish and English.

Lets all work together rather than working against each other.
