This feels like the important session. Chasing 250 you'd think maybe there's a chance. 350 looks pretty big...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Probably helps England by giving their bowlers a rest. The flip side being that Australia can take their time and will take a draw as that secures them the ashes,,.England need to engineer a win and time out the game doesn’t help.
Probably comes down to a cloudy session tomorrow and England ripping through them. Hopefully.

Honestly no idea why we are bowling short at Head in these conditions, absolute madness. His record is also better against the short ball than normal pitch up bowling.

Australia probably getting to a lead here where they will fancy it with their bowling and the pitch being clearly two paced.

I'll back us to win it. Time for our top enders to prove their worth. Ben has shown good composure and got us into a more then even chance position. A lot of elements in play, but I reckon we're up to it.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Yeah I’d back us too. It’s a classic Stokes game where we chase. Need to play well in the morning session. No need to smash it round the park that’s not what is needed. Two openers need to stick around chip away. I think given the way the pitch is and the uneven bounce you want to play relatively conventional stuff for a while till you feel in and then there is value for your shots.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 10:35 pmI'll back us to win it. Australia will have other ideas but today was a big day to bowl them out and survive 5 overs and sun is meant to be out tomorrow initially.

Same pattern. Every time you think England are on top they lose a wicket.

We lost the last test on dropped catches. We won't lose this one.

B.B.C commentators talking about the Yorkshire Rose flags. I hope they mean white ones as the red rose is Lancs and England..

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Joe Root seems to have lost his consistency lately...or is it the Oz bowling that's so good ?

Root out chasing one down the leg side. I’ve never known so many dismissals down the leg side. I know we’ve had short bowling and pace but still. Lot of them like that root one feel entirely unnecessary to me.

He won't be happy with the dismissal, but averaging 46 in an Ashes isn't too shoddy. Only Ben in front of him.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Yeah I’m not seeing a massive issue with Root. Apart from his catching. And the fact Cummins seems to get him every time.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 1:25 pmHe won't be happy with the dismissal, but averaging 46 in an Ashes isn't too shoddy. Only Ben in front of him.
He’s absolutely technically our best. I thought he looked a bit shaky today but I think it’s the pitch you simply aren’t ever in on these tracks.
England SHOULD see it out from here but you wouldn’t want to bet much on it.
