Absolutely... That same authority to put down the others without offence...thebish wrote:not really watching - but the listening thread is really about music..
the new series of "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" on R4.. I had thought it should end and that Humph was irreplaceable - but Jack Dee is (I think) the perfect replacement. It didn't work with Fry - but it certainly does with Dee...

I remember those parties... you put a bunch of car keys in the bowl and at the end of the night... you get to take someone else's car home...2399 wrote:Wife Swap USA

Has there been a decent film with Jack Black in it? (other than Mars Attacks and at least he didn't last long in that one)Eloy wrote:I watched the Gulliver's Travels yesterday... Jack Black was fat and he was surrounded by some tiny people. Didn't really follow the plot closely but I think it was a Hollywood adaptation of the Smurfs...
My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!

The good, good people are sending me Up in The Air, with George Cluney in it. It was recommended to me by a random Swedish girl that I got chatting with whilst queuing up waiting to clear Passport Control some weeks ago.
Has anyone seen it? Is it any good.

Not that I'd tell the Swedish girl that, of course.

Jack Black. Wasn't he in 'The Holiday' with Jude Law? I liked that film!

I watched it on a plane. Yes indeed.Bruce Rioja wrote:The good, good people are sending me Up in The Air, with George Cluney in it. It was recommended to me by a random Swedish girl that I got chatting with whilst queuing up waiting to clear Passport Control some weeks ago.

It passed the time on a flight, how it would stand up in an environment where I had other options I'm really not sure.
But I should imagine you'll get through it at least!

Ok, If not Kong then maybe Nacho Libre.General Mannerheim wrote:WUM!CrazyHorse wrote:King Kong is Black's best work, imo.

Nah, but I'm serious about King Kong though. Good remake and he actually for once doesn't play the character of Jack Black like he does in every other film.

I do tend to choose times when my other options are somewhat diminished anyway to watch films. Will let you know how I get on.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I watched Real Crime, about the "jigsaw killer" last night, the sick get. No explanation as to why he treated the body in the unusual way that he did, but otherwise a decent watch.
Also caught up on Frozen Planet - I could watch the scene with the penguin stealing rocks from another one's nest while its back was turned over and over it was brilliant.
Plus caught up with The Jury that was on last week. An alright watch with an absolute armful of well known faces, but in my opinion, just way too many improbables going on with each of those jury members - each one of them has something extraordinary going on!

High fidelity was pretty good imo. I think that was the first thing I ever saw him in.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Last night I watched The Counterfeiters. German - subtitles.
Really good movie. Jewish forgers and artists brought together in concentration camp to produce counterfeit pounds and dollars to destroy the Allied economies.
As fellow prisoners being destroyed in various brutal ways they live a luxury life - by concentration camp standards. Germans are being pushed back. Can they delay their efforts (they are good enough to do it!) so as not to affect the imminent allied victory.
based on a true story, allegedly. despite this, a very good movie.
