^^ it more or less runs from the old tunnel to Bootle. Nowadays more or less all dual carriageway.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Stanley Road Bootle. Some things never change. That post box ws there 35 years ago. One of the shops behind it was "Maureens" where you got cigs and the morning paper. A very nice woman actually, a total rarity around there. I could tell a few tales about Bootle, but I like my house the way it is thanks.

Another who wore the badge but, in fact, got out as soon as she could and never came back.
The people of Denham, where her home was, won't be sorry however. She was real Queen Bee there and routinely pissdd people off.
Still, an icon of the mid 1960's who reinvented herself as a TV host. So quite a career.
sad for her family and friends, of course - but she was a guaranteed "turn-the-telly-off" every time for me... and that voice?? singer?? it could strip paint!

I'm glad that someone else has said that. I'm sure that she was lovely, but she had quite possibly the most awful singing voice that I think I've ever heard. The way that she used to pronounce 'hair' and 'Claire' as 'hurr' and 'Clurr' in a way that nobody else does was annoying also. I see that Tarby's already been on proclaiming the City of Liverpool to have "Lost its Princess".thebish wrote: sad for her family and friends, of course - but she was a guaranteed "turn-the-telly-off" every time for me... and that voice?? singer?? it could strip paint!

funny you should say that! radio alarm went off this morning and on came the cilla-fest. I muttered to the missus - O Lordy, how long until they wheel out Jimmy Tarb.... oh feck!Bruce Rioja wrote:I'm glad that someone else has said that. Liverpool is the centre of the universe, they invented football, started pop music fifty years ago with the Beatles, and are the best folk you could possibly meet......according to the, er, well, the people of Liverpool.

You're missing their unique brand of humour there, Tango. Don't forget, the Germans bombing their take-aways is at the very root of all things comedic!TANGODANCER wrote:Liverpool is the centre of the universe, they invented football, started pop music fifty years ago with the Beatles, and are the best folk you could possibly meet......according to the, er, well, the people of Liverpool.

Christ almighty. For those of you that can't see Look North, be very, very thankful.
I'm playing Cilla Bingo.
Up to now I've applied the dobber to (1) Tarby turning up, (2) "She was one of our own" from a teary vox pop random on Matthew Street, (3) "The ultimate Liver Bird" on similar, (4) Footage from the replica Cavern, not the one where she actually worked hanging coats up, (5) Flags on Civic buildings at half mast......... I'm hoping to win an onion so as to be able to chop it up and join in the tears.
EDIT: Coming up - Stan cunting Boardman. Well, how could he pass up on such an opportunity? If he mentions bombing take-aways then me and my Stanley FatMax One-Piece Claw Hammer (16oz no less) are M62 bound!

"The Queen of Scousers, "still completely down to Earth", "She never left ys" (she did you know guys).
I was especially impressed by the throng of people queuing to sign the 'book of condolences'. It must have been as least 6 deep. And the obligatory flowers outside the Not-Really-the-Cavern' .....there were a good 15 or so bunches.
The whole programme was an attempt by the presenters to whip up some non-existant emotion.
Still .... we have Bruce to look forward to yet.

Her Spanish home that was. Not her real home in Denham, Buckinghamshire.thebish wrote:well, for one thing, she died AT HOME in southern spain!bobo the clown wrote:"The Queen of Scousers, "still completely down to Earth", "She never left ys" (she did you know guys).

Farwell Cilla and rest in peace however I wasn't one of your fans and didn't watch any of your shows as I found you to be extremely annoying.

I seldom concern myself about people I don't know personally, so I'll just extend condolences to her family and offer a small prayer for her soul. This of course on condition that Paul MaCartney doesn't appear to do Hey Jude. If that happens, all bets are off.

Lets hope so. No doubt the Beeb will have a Diana style day of mourning with music and photos. At least Elton is unlikely to sing I suppose.Bruce Rioja wrote:I actually hope that the c*nt lives for another hundred years! ^^ I wish, Bruce. I think that's the 'Lord Mayor'. It's possible it was him, but much more likely it was this phlegm gargling, fat feck who's the publicity hungry tosser never far from a microphone ...
"The Mayor of Liverpool is the executive mayor of the City of Liverpool in Merseyside, England. The incumbent is the former Leader of Liverpool City Council, Joe Anderson, of the Labour Party".

Yep. It seems they have two of the fckrs.
