The important thing is being happy with what you buy and what you use it for. I don't mind paying the extra when I think it's worth it, or if I cannot afford it then, I wait until I can.

the waiting until you can afford it is a creditable dying art, I fear... you're showing your age!jaffka wrote:The important thing is being happy with what you buy and what you use it for. I don't mind paying the extra when I think it's worth it, or if I cannot afford it then, I wait until I can.
I could probably afford a table and chairs for £1000 if I really wanted one - it's just that it would make me too scared of damaging the table - so I'd have my dinner on my lap on a tray!

Tonight it's Thai. Again. A young couple opened a restaurant a minute walk from the house- it's so good we've been 14 times since they opened in July. They close for three weeks on Sunday, so I'm considering bulk buying and freezing their spicy udon noodles to get me through.

I'm so over not having a working oven. If I was a good, creative cook I would see this as a challenge, however I am not.

Chicken saagwala from Spice Valley. Partner and daughter had veggie choices.
Just delicious, real chilli bite but not ferocious and brilliant flavours, pillau and naan...
I know others have their favourites, but I reckon this place is the best around...

In a turn of fate as I was walking back to knock up a pot noodle I got an email from pizza express literally as I was outside pizza express offering me 40% off. Dived in, enjoyed A belting pizza, glass of red, chocolate brownie, and a double espresso for £15.

The food is excellent. But the insides could do with being improved a little now IMO.William the White wrote:Chicken saagwala from Spice Valley. Partner and daughter had veggie choices.

(Microwaved) steak and kidney pudding. When we get a new oven I am learning how to make this (once I buy a pudding basin) it's one of my fave meals ever, my grandma used to make it and if was delish.

If you can use a double electric oven with ceramic hob and can fathom a way of getting it down to you I've one that you'll be able to have in about 3 weeks time.Gooner Girl wrote:(Microwaved) steak and kidney pudding. Save me fannying about trying to flog it on ebay.

Pappardelle with chicken and mushroom sauce. Nice...
Wine was a Chilean Pinot noir, three quid off at Morrison... Also nice...
Though... definitely not Burgundy...

Post run and belated Mrs G birthday treat, called at the local Italian tonight. Grilled sardines for starter - beautifully done and as tasty as the last time I had em in the Algarve

My little girl is 21 on Monday, so tonight it's Sokrates Greek taverna in Horwich for their mezze. Always consistently good since we first took her aged about 4.
