You know what - the point about expressing opinions, especially using a medium such as the internet is you will have people question them. If you are so set in your ways as to not want, what was a fairly gentle discussion ( lecture) about your view, then why bother posting it in the first place?
You also ignore my major contention - that the reason we have gay pride and the like is because such public expressions of homosexuality were not allowed up until fairly recent history and they want to celebrate that fact. Nobody is stopping you from having a parade about anything you like.

If you really want to know what irks my friend, it's the fact that you seem to think every post,view or opinion submitted needs a lecture from you from Brexit, Bolton Wanderers golf and cricket, and that only your own view ever matters or is right.. I didn't post it for homework correction, and did you notice no one else found the need to "correct "it? Where in it indeed did I post anything contentious or upsetting to anyone but you? If you put yourself in the public sphere you can't complain if people disagree or call you out in the public sphere. To then whine "libel" and still come out as the hero of the free-speech can't say no anymore is quite the conjuring trick, I'll grant him.

I know your libel laws are different and truth is a defence. Would the lady have to prove the chap was homophobic? On the basis of the tweet I read that would be difficult for her as it did not appear homophobic. Or is it not libelous to call someone homophobic, or a racist, etc.?

Truth is not an absolute defence in Canada. The publisher would not only have to prove the truth of the allegation but also that it was in the public interest to publish this. So, for example, if the fact could be proved that our Chief Justice liked to wear his wife's underwear when they were first married 30 years ago, the publisher would also have to show this negatively affected the judge's current ability to perform his public function - very hard to show. If on the other hand it could be proved the judge took bribes when in traffic court 30 years ago, it would be easy to show it was in the public interest to know this. Before getting questions on the habits of our judiciary I note that I made these instances up as an example.

Publican took away piss pot and served up another round of steins. Not sure if they were rozzers or not, but blokes wielding what looked suspiciously like machine guns and wearing mirror sunglasses and deep blue uniforms with lots of webbing turned up and casually sauntered over chewing gum.
The local population, me, the missus and our dog decided that that was a good time to be elsewhere. I have no idea of the eventual outcome....
