You know what - the point about expressing opinions, especially using a medium such as the internet is you will have people question them. If you are so set in your ways as to not want, what was a fairly gentle discussion ( lecture) about your view, then why bother posting it in the first place?
You also ignore my major contention - that the reason we have gay pride and the like is because such public expressions of homosexuality were not allowed up until fairly recent history and they want to celebrate that fact. Nobody is stopping you from having a parade about anything you like.
Your kindness overwhelmes me. Thank you. In return, if you wish to paint yourself rainbow- coloured, wear stiletto wellingtons and drive a milk cart bollock naked along Bradshawgate shouting Yippee Aye Hey, I promise to uphold your right to do so. Meanwhile.....

If you really want to know what irks my friend, it's the fact that you seem to think every post, view or opinion submitted needs a lecture from you from Brexit, Bolton Wanderers golf and cricket, and that only your own view ever matters or is right.. I didn't post it for homework correction, and did you notice no one else found the need to "correct "it? Where in it indeed did I post anything contentious or upsetting to anyone but you? Having a view was still the right of the individual last time I looked and I posted mine. That was it. No need to reply further. I'm done.

To be fair, he's the mard prick trying to sue because the nasty lady went into print about the thing. If she'd just said it to all her friends who'd have given a toss?

Interesting that the Labour Party have cut the funding for her defence, wonder what their motivation is.
And the nasty lady went into print because the mard prick tweeted the joke.

If you put yourself in the public sphere you can't complain if people disagree or call you out in the public sphere. To then whine "libel" and still come out as the hero of the free-speech can't say no anymore is quite the conjuring trick, I'll grant him.
I know your libel laws are different and truth is a defence. Would the lady have to prove the chap was homophobic? On the basis of the tweet I read that would be difficult for her as it did not appear homophobic. Or is it not libelous to call someone homophobic, or a racist, etc.?
Is Truth not a defence in Canadia?
Truth is not an absolute defence in Canada. The publisher would not only have to prove the truth of the allegation but also that it was in the public interest to publish this. So, for example, if the fact could be proved that our Chief Justice liked to wear his wife's underwear when they were first married 30 years ago, the publisher would also have to show this negatively affected the judge's current ability to perform his public function - very hard to show. If on the other hand it could be proved the judge took bribes when in traffic court 30 years ago, it would be easy to show it was in the public interest to know this. Before getting questions on the habits of our judiciary I note that I made these instances up as an example.

I forgot your defamation laws were even more mad than ours. No freestanding right to privacy recognised in English law.

Law in England has changed since I studied it to introduce two new defences (that replaced similar but different old defences): truth, and honest opinion. Both probably relevant here.

But... I imagine this will be decided under Scottish law, so feck only knows.

Scotland is, in many ways, a mixed jurisdiction.

I note however everfxcker in the universe seems to be upset about Montenegro 'fans'.
I can only say that, just now, five minutes ago, a bunch of
Estuary English spouting tosspotss wearing crusader gear and absolutely pissed out of their boxes have just stood on a table in a pub/cafe in Rijeka and in full public view pissed into a litre pot!
What the fxck is the world coming to?
Despite all the crap circling around our club and Brexit I'd say that this is the most depressing thing I've read this week. Assholes - I hope the local Rozzers caught up with em.

Publican took away piss pot and served up another round of steins. Not sure if they were rozzers or not, but blokes wielding what looked suspiciously like machine guns and wearing mirror sunglasses and deep blue uniforms with lots of webbing turned up and casually sauntered over chewing gum.
The local population, me, the missus and our dog decided that that was a good time to be elsewhere. I have no idea of the eventual outcome....

"More than 100 people attended an open meeting on Thursday in Birmingham's gay village".

Is that just across the road from the white supremacist quarter?

Some folk in Pakistan have launched a minibus service exclusively for women. Apparently it's hoped this will reduce instances of ladies being assaulted, abducted, raped or enslaved.

A spokesperson for Rotherham Council said they don't know what all the fuss is about.

I note that a Labour Party statement from January this year claims “£171,000. That’s how much the Tories’ No Deal preparations are costing our country. Per hour.”

So not exactly "crashing out" over a "cliff edge" then.

Talk about cake and eating!

A school in Walsall has employed a Nappy Changer to deal with the five year olds that aren't potty trained.

Potty trained!

Never mind able to use a toilet.

No doubt they live on 'Happy Meals'.

"Please Miss, may I leave the room?" was the very first phrase we learned as five-year olds....Mind you, the glares it got you sort of made you hesitate a bit till it was desperation time...
