Look, we can flip a coin (he says, avoiding suggesting "we toss for it") .... but one of us should tie him up & taunt him while the other removes various body parts until we get bored and shoot him.thebish wrote:surely the UK has heard enough of Richard fecking bacon now!!!

I always find with Richard Bacon that he desperately wants to be taken seriously as a serious-business interviewer, but never will be.

Angry? Me? Nah, I'm friggin livid. Apparently, the BBC are paying Alan Hansen 40 grand per show for MoTD. 40 grand!! For that smug, arrogant tw4t. It beggars belief! How, in any way, shape or form can the Beeb justify paying anyone a Permiership striker's wage for sitting on a couch??!!

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
The insurance bastards. I have my buildings and contents cover on the same policy for which I've just received my renewal notification, telling me how much my monthly payment will be over the next 12 months. That looks a bit steep, thinks I, and a quick calculation reveals that they're whacking it up by 16.7%
Unimpressed, I've just rang them in order that they furnish me with an explanation, only to be told, and get this.... "As there've been a number of claims in your area it's pushed everyone's premium up" Oh is that so? - and can you tell me how many of those claims have been made by me? "Err, none, Mr Rioja" So why am I picking up the tab for others then? "Err, well if you go onto a cost comparison website and find like for like cover for less we'll match it" Oh, will you now? That's very fecking big of you, and you still haven't answered my question, have you? "Well, like I say, if you can find like for.........." Oh, feck off!

There's a happy ending to this - I decided to go on the meerkat to see what other deals are available. As of now, my buildings, contents and all other periphery are now insured by Axa who, in managing to offer me more cover (which I don't actually need) have managed to reduce my monthly premium by 51.63%, or in real terms by £229.24 over the next 12 months.
I'm actually quite glad that the previous lot wrote to me now, as I'd no idea that they'd been taking the piss

Car insurance just come through and I've just had a quote online for a better package, £60 cheaper than my current providers (its actually £20 cheaper than last years) and present insurers have said find it cheaper and we will beat it! they (Saga) can feck off I want the best price available first time not be part of a feckin' auction!Bruce Rioja wrote:The insurance bastards. I'm with the AA for Car, buildings and contents insurance. I never usually query the increment but this year they took the piss to the extent I thought 'how much?'. I managed to reduce all three costs by between 35% and 40%.
Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Never ever just go with a renewal for any type of insurance or you WILL be ripped off! You are paying for reduced premiums that your insurance company is offering to new customers, this claims thing is bollox!Gary the Enfield wrote:I'm with the AA for Car, buildings and contents insurance. Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Pisses me right off this too. How can they reduce the price if you get a better offer; I wouldn't renew with them on principle. You shouldn't have to haggle over the cost of car insurance like you're buying a magic carpet of a back-street Egyptian market.Hoboh wrote:Car insurance just come through and I've just had a quote online for a better package, £60 cheaper than my current providers (its actually £20 cheaper than last years) and present insurers have said find it cheaper and we will beat it! they (Saga) can feck off I want the best price available first time not be part of a feckin' auction!
If they reduce the price they're basically admitting to ripping you off in the first place. So fck em.
Anyway, isn't Saga the insurance broker specially designed just for the over 70s? Ya fckin dusty old fart!

Absolutely. Didn't even give them chance. They'll be on before long wondering why I've cancelled the standing order...bobo the clown wrote:... and what's more, for I have "been there", if the first lot now tried to match that you'd tell them to go feck themselves wouldn't you ?!

I don't. I check the prices every year on the ususal comparison websites. Usually they are mid range which is what I'm comfortable paying. Those at the bottom end tend to have too many exclusions or inflated ' voluntary' excesses which end up costing you more. This year, though, they made themselves the most expensive. Hence the query.
Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Check your local police crime map for your area to get a good indication if you are being ripped off, ok it don't cover all claims but it will give a decent indicator being theft and vandaism etc won't be paid out without a crime number and also casually ask around about claims you'll not find many
