ok - no takers!! (BBC4)thebish wrote:did anyone watch Borgen? if so - was it any good?
watched the first part last night (and will watch the second part tonight)
was pretty much immediately drawn in - might be a slow pot-boiler, but it is well paced..

REM at the BBC on 3 or 4.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

The TV series of Tinker, Tailor ... with Alec Guiness, on DVD.
Love it.
Smiley's People to follow soon.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Last night I was at my parents looking through the movie channels to see what was on (We get basic plus sport, so nothing ; NO MOVIES, NO HISTORY DOCOs , NO TELETUBBIES and NO WORTHWHILE TV SHOWS)Annoyed Grunt wrote:Seeing as it's Friday the 13th, erm, Friday the 13th Part 2.
There was all six of Nightmare on Elm Streets, starting at 8:30PM! followed by a new one I think.
That would of been awesome to try and watch, 'Gotta stay awake!'

I have never seen any Elm Streets

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched this a few months back and thought it very dated but still very watchable. I recorded The Spy Who Came in from the Cold this week with Richard Burton. George Smiley makes an appearance in that too but played by Rupert Davies who went on to play Maigret.bobo the clown wrote:The TV series of Tinker, Tailor ... with Alec Guiness, on DVD.

Yes, we saw that. Very atmospheric film, but fell a bit short of the hype surrounding it for me. Still worth a watch though.thebish wrote:bobo the clown wrote:The TV series of Tinker, Tailor ... with Alec Guiness, on DVD.

Very well crafted film, but to squeeze it into 2 hrs required compression and corner cutting which didn't do it favours. Some elements were infeasible also (Control's flat being untouched for months after his death (spoiler ???) until Smiley got to go through it .... as if).
Worth a watch, but realise its limitations.
CiG ... agree that the TV one is dated, but that's just how it is I'm afraid. Well worth the watch though.
I'm a massive fan of the BBC Radio adaptations, the first ones ... with Bernard Hepton as Smiley. Unfortunately they haven't yet transferred it to CD. The recent Russell Beale ones were OK, but not quite up to scratch.

Watched an oldie the other week...The Second Coming with Christopher Eccleston.
Laughable ending aside it was entertaining enough. Russel t Davies is a preachy knob though and I don't know if I fancy giving "new" Doctor Who a go after that...

Watched The Believer last night on the recommendations of The General and Lofthouse Lower. Powerful and gripping stuff indeed.

Sherlock last night. After a pretty messy second episode the final one was...fantastic, I felt.
Needs another viewing though to get my head around it...

Maybe he did? But with the rather sudden ending you'd never know.......Bruce Rioja wrote:Like I've said, if he was that clever he'd have worked out how to make them himselfBWFC_Insane wrote:Watched limitless last night...not bad...till the last half hour, the ending part was weak IMO.
