no - but I will!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:One of my local's installed a bread oven and employs a breadmaker to produce wonderful 'artisan' bread. having gone through the wholemeal and granary shizzle - have settled on basic, all-white. It is simply the best - toasted or not...
to accompany it - freshly laid eggs from my own chooks - or the home-made strawberry jam I made the other week...
middle-aged spread on the way!
Have you tried making any sourdough stuff yersen?

i will certainly be trying that!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Have you tried putting a little rye flour in? Say, 20-30g in a 400-500g of flour recipe. Just adds a little flavour without taking over.thebish wrote:Am back in the habit of making my own bread... I now make a fresh loaf every day...

So, the delights of home made potato cake are unknown to you ?? Such a shame.

Tastecard is great. Mine was £30. Reckon it payed for itself in one visit to La Divinas where it's 50% off the food. But quite often, almost weekly two of us will go pizza express where it's bogof with tastecard, we share the bill, it's cheaper than staying in!
Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
It's about £80 normally I think, but a mate was saying they do deals and offers (is that how you got yours, or was it a perk with something else?). Not sure the £80 would be worth it, but £30 defo would. How does it work, do you each need one, or one per table...?

Each place is different, some it's 50% off total food, but usually for 2 people but some for 4. Others are bogof per card. So one per couple is reet. £30 is just what it was when I checked it out, and that's what I was charged when it renewed itself...

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
My late grandfather used to make the finest potato cakes in the the whole history of savoury comestibles. Sadly he took his recipe to the grave and not one of us has every managed to replicate them. All we do know was that he used a little baking powder (or was it bicarb?) in them to fluff them out.bobo the clown wrote:thebish wrote:I've never encountered leftover mashed potato!![]()

But there is the chance that it might get eaten. Best we don't get into probability on the same day as averages thoughthebish wrote:Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I always make more than we can eat so I can either use in bread/potato cakethebish wrote:bobo the clown wrote:thebish wrote:I've never encountered leftover mashed potato!![]()

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Rocked up at about half five coz was off to a gig after. Quiet when we got there, and the missus was disappointing we didn't get the Vespa scooter table initially. Had a bit of garlic bread with cheese as a starter. It's hard for that to knock your socks off but it was genuinely fab. Reminded me of the stuff I had in Naples, and got me really excited for the main. She had a pizza and I had stuffed chicken. Mine was OK, but didn't live up to the ludicrous expectations I'd by now come up with; hers was pretty good as pizza goes.General Mannerheim wrote:have you got a tastecard!!??Prufrock wrote:Tomorrow night, before Chuck Ragan at the Garage, am off to Cafe La Divinia on Upper Street, recommended I think by GM. Looking forward to it.
its great in there, the staff are what make it tho. always a really good bustling atmosphere. ultimately down to the tastecard trade - its cheap as chips!
As you say though the staff were absolutely top. Really friendly, which meant the whole place was buzzing by about half six; they came over with a complimentary Bailey's each after the bill (I liked that it was after, not tip-angling). Overall, I thought it was a cracking night, and if I had 50% off I'd be there every week! Will defo go again.

This evening, in my corner of the Earth, I shall be eating here ....

The food is good, but frankly it hardly matters.

Ooooh yes. It would be my pleasure to purchase you a couple one day. In fact, though in Waleshire the river (the Dee) is the boundary, so the first picture was taken from Shropshire.Worthy4England wrote:Do they serve alcohol on a Friday to Englishers?
