Re: Today I'm happy about......
Spent a wonderful and thoroughly tranquil week on Mull a few years ago, Monty. There's a superb fish restaurant on the dock at Tobermory. It has its own fishing boat and as such the availability of most items on the menu is dependent on what they've landed that afternoon.Montreal Wanderer wrote: I'm a bit jealous. I have been to much of Scotland (even to Cape Wrath or as close as the car would go) but never got across to Mull and so missed Iona too.

Today I'm a very proud dad as young Miss Bob has finished her social work degree and has chosen to work with children and families, despite the poor press they get, and young Master Bob finished his college course with the equivalent of 3 A* A levels.
Neither of my kids are academics, but both of them are grafters and committed to careers helping others. Made up.

aye - very much so...Bruce Rioja wrote:Are you nipping over to Iona, Bish?thebish wrote:I am visiting many of the most famous sites of Christian Pilgrimage in Britain - which is (basically) a jaunt around the coastline of Great Britain (including Scotland, Ireland and Wales). Whether that makes it a "real pilgrimage" might be a matter of debate! (no indulgences will be purchased and I am not looking for any miraculous healing...)

Re: Today I'm happy about......
Apparently, I've just invented a new word. Wife sent me a text testing out my new mobile (which is actually her old one as mine had one previous owner, Dick Barton) I replied in my best text style and she repled and asked me, "what's a load of nollox"

I don't quite know why it's tickled me as much as it has, but I've been giggling on and off for days at this I read in an interview with Josh Charnley,
"I train hard but it really is starting to feel as if I take two steps forwards and then take a bigger one in the opposition direction."
Not quite got the idiom there, Josh.

Went to Bolton to the library, then had a visit from my brother and sister in law who now live in Poulton, a beer and a good old chin-wag about all sorts. Always been my best mate since we were just kids. At 73 he has a part-time job of a few hours a week, and still goes to the gym every week. Made my day.

Got some weird looks on the bus home tonight as I burst out laughing on the way up Cally Road. Flying above a kebab shop was a big flag with the Galatasaray badge and underneath "2015 SAMPIYONS"!

I'll try to get a photo tomorrow. I laughed to myself for a good 30 secs. Meant no-one sat next to me though.
