Re: the Photo thread
great job - and some really fab pics!
small thing: it's a bit annoying that the big Dave Newton title box stays over the top of a gallery of photos as you scroll down - at least it does in firefox...

Was waiting to board at Copenhagen and it clouded over perfectly so as to be able to look at it directly without then blinking purple crescents for a half an hour thereafter.

Looks good Clappers! You've probably done more for Salford Docks than Salford Council. It almost looks habitable.clapton is god wrote:Forgive me pimping my new photographic venture.
Only taken a week to knock this together using Wix.
Over the next week or so I am hoping for critiques from various sources and then I'll get it published with a domain name and an online shop, but until then any constructive comments gratefully received.

Oh, isn't the one in Worsley the Packet House (rather than the Post House)?
Re: the Photo thread
that would depend if the packet is small enough to fit through that slot they test them with to determine postage!Worthy4England wrote:Oh, isn't the one in Worsley the Packet House (rather than the Post House)?

Took me two weeks to solve that, but I've now managed to get it to stay put at the top of the page - and about 40 photos added, thebish wrote:great job - and some really fab pics!

The Taw river...
Had a FAB day in glorious sunshine hiking over Dartmoor yesterday... conditions perfect for moorland lanscapes - ever changing cloud patterns giving light and shadow on the moors. It was so sunny I totally burned my (bald) head...
with this one I thought about getting my ND filter out like clapton did for his (rather bigger) river! but then realised I didn't have it with me - so I lengthened the exposure slightly - manually - in order to get the impression of river movement... first time I took it, it was on a very fast shutter speed - and it froze the river... I think a bit of blur gives it movement...

there are some more in the set here in a flickr set: https://www.flickr.com/photos/revnev/se ... 785756972/
I shall add a few more to the flickr set today and tomorrow...

Re: the Photo thread

Mine was out of a tap in Bolton's first Indian restaurant, The Kismet on Bank Street the very first time I had Vindaloo curry. I was totally unprepared and did big WTF's before downing half a gallon of corporation.. Long time ago, but never forgotten.Prufrock wrote:I'm not sure I can name the "best water I've ever drunk".

Re: the Photo thread
This fella can't compete with thebish's cute thang but it wanted some attention whilst we were up at Tewit Tarn yesterday (Blencathra in the background). It was getting a bit too close for comfort but all it really wanted was a scratch behind the ear, or for me to put its comb-over back in place.
