They are supposed to be moved to a container village with better facilities or offered a place in centres around France.Bruce Rioja wrote:Scuse my ignorance, but where are these people in The Jungle actually being moved to? Is it not better to keep them all together and keep tabs on 'em?
The problem it seems, is in order to do so they have to be processed, registered and finger printed which they don't want because then they cannot claim to be anything different, depending on where they find themselves.

Right of course when many news outlets such as the BBC and Guardian have for a good while been promoting pictures of women and kids at every opportunity they can get away with?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Presumably most of the families are in the northern section.
Or of course you can choose to see/believe what you want to see. Personally I'd prefer to ask who she is and why does she need to cover her face in order to hold a sign. Maybe it's truthful and accurate, or maybe it's not. Either way you have no way of knowing, so why take it as gospel?

Well, naturally you don't take those at face value either then. It's ok to be sceptical, just be consistent about it. Of course, if you've already decided that all the migrants are rampaging males out to rape and pillage as a prelude to committing terrorist acts...Hoboh wrote:Right of course when many news outlets such as the BBC and Guardian have for a good while been promoting pictures of women and kids at every opportunity they can get away with?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Presumably most of the families are in the northern section.

There is (and I still have a few contacts in distribution and transport) an awful lot of stone throwing at lorries crossing the channel that is going totally unreported.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Well, naturally you don't take those at face value either then. Ramming border gates with battering rams and throwing bricks at the Macedonian police, riots in Greece all tends to back up the 'rampaging males' unless you need an appointment at spec-savers!

But if it is not reported then why would I need specs, or a hearing aid for that matter?

as examples.
whereas this gives a sort of explanation... http://www.unhcr.org/cgi-bin/texis/vtx/ ... =568f55be5
The UNs figures for migrants entering Europe was 72% men, 13% women, 15% children.
(PS I'm not necessarily making the same point as Hoboh here

You are at least providing some fact rather than a photo of someone with their face covered claiming some statistics!Lost Leopard Spot wrote: (PS I'm not necessarily making the same point as Hoboh here)

I posted a photo, from a national paper probably of some unwashed, unemployed female, British scrote, waving a placard designed to tug the heart strings.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:You are at least providing some fact rather than a photo of someone with their face covered claiming some statistics!Lost Leopard Spot wrote: (PS I'm not necessarily making the same point as Hoboh here)
The fact that said activist has the brains of a pea advertising the approx. break down of the camp that hardly helps her case is fcuking hilarious.
You chose what you want to believe but nothing will change my and others opinion, that those entering Europe from Turkey are nothing other the economic migrants, not poor refugees. Unless that is Thomas Cook, Thompson etc. fly people out on package tours to war zones!

But I haven't chosen to believe anything based on that photo. I'm not using it to justify an entrenched position. I've merely pointed out that it proves nothing other than your desire to believe anything that paints migrants as bad.Hoboh wrote:I posted a photo, from a national paper probably of some unwashed, unemployed female, British scrote, waving a placard designed to tug the heart strings.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:You are at least providing some fact rather than a photo of someone with their face covered claiming some statistics!Lost Leopard Spot wrote: (PS I'm not necessarily making the same point as Hoboh here)

that's rarely a great place to be... I think you should always be open to the possibility of change.

The post-factual era. No middle ground. No debate. Just a lot of heel-digging.

Refugees in Turkey are not being shot murdered or dragged off into the night
Turkey, is not by any normal submission a dangerous place, anymore than the UK
Stands to reason, anyone leaving Turkey for Europe is doing it for economic reasons.
Refugee status is not applicable to such people!
Now why on earth would I change my mind over that?

Re: The wonderful EU and Migration thread!
So your basic contention here is that because Turkey and Greece happen to be the nearest landing zones to Syria/Lots of other places in the middle east, they should just take all the refugees that head their way?

Re: The wonderful EU and Migration thread!
I don't know about his contention. But my contention is that the surrounding countries (Saudi, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, the Kurds in Iraq) should 'host' UNHCR refugee camps. That's certainly my contention.Worthy4England wrote:So your basic contention here is that because Turkey and Greece happen to be the nearest landing zones to Syria/Lots of other places in the middle east, they should just take all the refugees that head their way?

if they refuse to do so though... that's just "tough" for people fleeing Syria?
the UN has 12 camps in Lebanon - with about half a million registered refugees in them
Jordan accomodates about 2million Palestinian refugees in its refugee camps...
the UNHCR is working in Turkey where there they accomodate over 1.7 million Syrian refugees

I do know that thee and I have differing opinions. I understand why, from your opinion, you'd say that.thebish wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I don't know about his contention. Me, from my opinion, thinks that allowing wars on a global 'oh that's up to them basis' is outrageous, my contention is that if as humanity we all turned around, all 5 billion of us, and said "cut the fxcking shit", then we wouldn't have any fxcking need for refugees...
As we do, then its best if they are settled in an environment closest to their cultural norm
