What are you watching tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

can someone help me remember a film , please ?

i hate search engines being shite when you know loads about something in super fine detail apart from the name.

the film couldve been nominated for the academy awards's best picture or best director (although it didnt win as, i kinda remember reading that the director upon him winning (or , the other film he directed that same year winning) said something like "thank you , but you chose the wrong film" , implying the film i want to remember shouldve won instead. this is kinda similar to 2000 when steven soderburgh had two films up.

i think the award it missed out on was best picture.

the film is pre-70s . i think. maybe even pre-ww2.

the plot concerns , from what i remember, an (kinda older) couple were the husband becomes unemployed , mega spoilers may follow, so he tries getting a new job but things dont work out so i think the wife goes to temporarily live with one of their sons/daughters family (in california iirc) while the man finds work. The man still carnt get a job so goes out to california too . After a bit the in-law (or maybe the son or daughter) gets narced (?) that theyre living in their house and the 'solution' is to put them in seperate old peoples homes. They spend their last day together shopping and whatever in town before catching seperate trains.

i've never seen the film , but it gets props. its probably a stone cold classic and famous asanything. sounds grim as owt considering the plot/ending.

if someone can remember the name of the film, i'll be able to get the award story quote straight and/or watch it too.

i cannot remember the name or even any actors names or anything.

thanks.

Homeland again last night - getting better by the episode. Beginning to suspect the worst of characters I began the series thinking were 100% good guys too!

2 hours of Dirk Gently has done for me.
