Like I replied to the person above.I'm 65 myself but even so I can see where you're coming from. I've lived and worked outside the UK for 20 years in France, Switzerland and Belgium and I plan to retire to Spain when I'm ready to stop working. It fills me with dread that my future could be determined by these bitter old timers just because they can. I just hope the young ones come out in force.
Your choice to live then retire overseas, why should I or others who remain in the UK give a flying fcuk about what you want.

Re: The wonderful EU and Migration thread!
Surely its the job of the outers to come up with a coherent argument as to why we should leave something we're already part of?
I get confused as to how this is painted as an equal fight. I'm happy to remain in the position we're in - as a part of Europe - and wonder why the pressure isn't being put more on the party who are costing us money to change something that I suspect a large portion of society are happy to rub along with. Just how much money is this process costing we the taxpayer, and how much is it detracting from the important, ongoing job of government?
I don't want, nor did I ask for, a referendum on changing what already exists. Why the f*ck are people of a like mind to me being asked to come up with a defence? Its not our job! Its the little Englanders who should be doing that. And so far, the only argument I can see is... well I can't see one. There isn't one other than nostalgia. And as much as I wish for my childhood back, it won't change anything. The world moved on whilst you were daydreaming about D-Day or something.

Equally, surely then, there was no argument for holding the Scottish Independence referendum, nor the joining Europe referendum. Cake and eat it argument that is.Lord Kangana wrote:Surely its the job of the outers to come up with a coherent argument as to why we should leave something we're already part of?

Re: The wonderful EU and Migration thread!
It wasn't an argument against a referendum. It was pointing out that actually wanting one needs to be backed up by something, as its the wanting a referendum that changes the status quo. At the moment there is no other coherent argument other than "we want to leave and you'd better come up with some bloody good reasons not to".
At the moment, all the emphasis seems to be on remaining in. If that's the case, why not just stay in, and f*ck the referendum off? I'd be happy to. Its not me that's asking for a change. Its nonsense.

Don't, please feel free to keep quiet and why the fcuk should we not have a vote just cause you don't see the need for it?
selfish tosser! what I want is just as important as what you want and a referendum will decide who is the majority.
Don't like it? Ferries and trains leave daily for Merkel land.

We can all get het up. We can. Sometimes reasoned debate is the refuge of the wrong, and sometimes the wronged, but I've never believed that reason and passion can be weighed on some kind of scales and the correct course magically revealed. It depends if the reason is sufficiently logical and the passion directed fairly...thebish wrote:aye... this - and your comments about Pru... Re: The wonderful EU and Migration thread!
So the truth of the matter and real architects of project fear are surfacing, the elite and gravy train folk who don't want their little baby aborted! Two important European figures have warned of dire political and economic consequences for the European Union and therefore the UK if June’s referendum leads to Britain leaving the EU.
The Italian finance minister, Pier Carlo Padoan, said that Britain’s departure could cause a domino effect in which Eurosceptic parties and electorates feel emboldened, while the German finance minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, claimed an out vote would be “poison” to the British, EU and world economies.
In an interview with the Guardian, Padoan predicted a British departure might even lead to pressure for France to leave the EU in the 2017 presidential elections, saying: “We are already seeing a domino effect with anti-European parties gaining a lot of support, starting in France.”
Like Schäuble, Padoan warned Britain would find it complicated to negotiate free-trade deals with Brussels from outside the EU. He said: “Whenever you break an agreement you know what you are going to lose, you do not know what you are going to gain in the next agreement.”

Hell of a mixed metaphor.

I considered Hoboh's "passion" to be unfairly directed and illogical - hence my perfectly reasonable comment directed at Hoboh about his descent to personal abuse.

It'll be easier to insult people properly in Imperial once we're out of Europe. None of this fannying around with straight metric political health correctiveness.

Re: The wonderful EU and Migration thread!
Dirty Dave and the Europhiles strike again.Daniel Korski, centre, a senior aide to David Cameron rang British Chambers of Commerce director general John Longworth to berate him for calling for Britain to leave the EU, it has been revealed. He made the call just hours before Mr Longworth was suspended from his role. It comes after Number 10 has repeatedly denied putting any pressure on the organisation to take action against Mr Longworth, who resigned on Sunday, and his treatment has been labelled 'disgraceful and spineless' by Cabinet minister Chris Grayling. The Prime Minister's official spokesman has declined to comment on 'private conversations'.
