Re: the Photo thread
I'm glad I took that yesterday morning. Just been out for a stroll around the same area and the council are busy hoovering the leaves up!

Re: the Photo thread
Along with Clapper's photos, these really make me wish I was home...until I remember those 5:30am mornings waiting for trains on rainy windswept platforms (they were always late or not at all)..

I think it about time that this thread embraced 'nutscaping'. I shall get my ballsack out and post a couple up later.

Re: the Photo thread
I spent the weekend up in the Lakes. It pissed down the whole time and on Sunday a gale blew in, I couldn't have got wetter if I'd sat down fully clothed in a bath. I got some good walking in, but I couldn't see feck all for most of the time.
This fella was stood on The Band, should have had a nice backdrop of Pike o' Stickle and the Langdales, but despite me standing there for ages I didn't get a single peek...

But then miracle of miracles just above Three Tarns on the way up to Bowfell I got a momentary break in the clouds. After hanging on for dear life as the wind battered me, there was a sudden lull and I managed to get this view of Pike o' Blisco. Quite chuffed with it, not because it's a great photo (although I do like it) but because of the sheer fortitude it required to get it

Really impressive pics Spots. Never been into photography but I appreciate others work. You've caught the unspoiled appeal of the area very well.

At least that would explain why he's looking at you and thinking "What are you still doing here you mad bugger?"Lost Leopard Spot wrote:This fella was stood on The Band, should have had a nice backdrop of Pike o' Stickle and the Langdales, but despite me standing there for ages I didn't get a single peek...

Re: the Photo thread
By coincidence this morning in the car I was listening to Bill Bryson and Notes From a Small Island and the section was about climbing Bowfell via The Band. He arrives at the top in dreadful weather and wonders how he can explain to people from other countries how he found 3 dozen English people at the top having a picnic in an ice storm with near zero visibility. I love Bryson!

Cheers Tango, Worthy.
Oh and by the way that wasn't the only sheep that was asking me what the bloody hell I was doing up there, all those I passed shook their shaggy little heads...
Strangely enough, I didn't see a single person on the way up The Band or Bowfell, which is just unheard of, but sat sitting beneath the summit eating rain drenched salmon and cucumber sandwiches, out of the mist from Esk Hause way appeared two others (singly) who also proceeded to sit and eat in glum silence.
By the way, I always take a photo of my dog on any summit we top (she's got quite a collection now) but I could only get a close up of her on Bowfell as this was the best I could take with normal focal length (she's in there somewhere, honest)

oh, there she is...

Brigitte is German. And run entirely by blokes. Sorry if this causes any disillusionment.

Bijou (bijoux, bijouterie) is French for jewel (jewels, jewelry store). Why would Bob call himself that if he didn't know?Worthy4England wrote:Brigitte is German. And run entirely by blokes. Sorry if this causes any disillusionment.
