Stunning production of The Oscar Wilde story. Brilliantly cast and superbly acted. Lots of familiar acting talent with Stephen Fry utterly magnificent in the title role. Odd bits of it made me realise I'd seen it before way back, but well worth watching again anyway. Excellent.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

What did you think? I was enjoying it until it turned absolutely ridiculous.General Mannerheim wrote:ive got cabin in the woods, gonna watch it on the rattler tonight.
Monday Night Football then the new episode of Breaking Bad. Don't think I've looked forward to a a TV show as much as this before.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I watched The Fighter. Well acted - Bale especially. I thought the redemption was earned pretty well in terms of the two brothers and not at all in terms of the bitch mother and stupid lumpen sisters...
But pretty good film by Hollywood standards... Better plotted than scripted...

If you liked The Fighter, I'd recommend Warrior if you haven't seen it already. I liked it better than The Fighter.

I prefer MMA over boxing, and I prefered the characters in Warrior. Nick Nolte's and Tom Hardy's characters were great. Bale's character in The Fighter really grated on me. The Fighter overall was probably a more complete and in depth film but I definitely liked Warrior more.

I think that's the idea to be honest.. Show's he's acted it out well..hi there, i'm chris wrote:I prefer MMA over boxing, and I prefered the characters in Warrior. The brother is supposed to be likeable and irritating in equal measures. As you could see at the end of the film when it showed footage from the original (real) documentary that they were filming of him during 'The Fighter'.
Micky (the real one) is just sort of shrugging and smiling, as if to say "I put up with him, because he's my brother"
"I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Oh definitely, that's the point of the character. But there's been quite a few Bale characters that I haven't enjoyed in the past and within 20 minutes of the film it hindered my enjoyment of it rather than adding to the film.
I still liked the film, but I'm just comparing it to Warrior.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Obviously in a Bale frame atm... Watched 3-10 to Yuma.
Good work, I thought, though didn't buy into the collusion of Crowe's and Bale's characters at the climax, which was, to say the least, under-motivated. Very well shot. Crowe excellent. Bale good. Fonda vg.
