Where do you find all this 'you're not burning my poppy' stuff though?! I only see it via you...
It's all inbred stuff from moronic parents; bit like Northern Ireland where kids too young to know what it's all about are brought up on hate. They're making the poppy a "fxck you" emblem and destroying its meaning. A real example of moronic parents is in today's Sun. A guy thinks its okay for his three year old kid to call a player a cxnt because all three year olds swear and "anybody who thinks differently isn't living in the real world" (or words to that effect).

it has happened - granted - but how often and how widespread?
There have been incidents that have made the news in central London on Armistice Day (and with subsequent convictions) the last couple of years. Other than I have no clue.

I could, of course, disassociate myself from them - and keep my fb page pure - but I'm not going to be doing that any time soon...

I still reserve the right to be angry/irritated by it on the TW angry thread, though.
Apologies. Keep up the good work!

Is engaging them in some gentle debate on this subject inappropriate/impossible in your position?

Anyway, you can take some comfort in the fact that lots of us don't have this stuff popping up on our news feeds.

yeah - there was one in 2010, I think - and some kind of threatened (but not realised?) action last year...

but - to my knowledge - not common or widespread - nor in any way a thing that "muslims" in general can be legitimately tarred with...

No, there was a giant poppy burnt by a group of protestors who also chanted at 11am on Exhibition Road in Kensington last year.

I agree with your second sentence, however.

no - it is entirely appropriate and possible - and is (in the grand scheme of things) the whole point of engaging with them.

going slightly off-topic - our interaction is not really based on debate or "teaching" (in the narrow sense of the world) - or preaching (again - in the narrow sense of the word) - but on the much slower process of "modelling a different way of living".

the issue we are focusing on is showing some of these parents how to develop an attitude that actually ENJOYS having their children around and enjoys spending time with them rather than treating them as a temporary interruption to living their own lives... this is quite a long-term and slow-burn process - but basically involves getting involved in their lives and designing meaningful and genuine interactions between families who will then learn from one another...

with it - of course - comes all of this stuff - and gently unpacking it and challenging it is at times refreshing and at times very frustrating....

Pretentious crisp flavours.

I'm currently eating a bag of Walkers Cheese and Onion, except, because they are the new fancy ridged ones, they are now 'Mature Cheddar and Onion'. F*ck off. And Walkers are nowhere near the worst.

Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper. You mean Salt and Pepper.
Mature Cheddar and Red Onion. Cheese and Onion.
Sea Salt and Cider Vineger. You get the jist.

They're crisps, not a bastard lifestyle choice. Wankers.

Also, I nearly got into thebish style rage at Facebook poppy wankers, but I kept it together. Obviously.

I find the 'change my profile picture to a poppy' a bit sickly and over the top (and also missing the point IMO) but at least those people have their hearts in the right place. The people, and they are by no means not all stupid chavs, with the why-is-such-and-such-not-wearing-one, through to poppy-and-proud, through to burn-our-poppies-we'll-burn-your-mosques, well, those people, they can all f*ck off. Dredging up six year old stories of Jon Snow not wearing one. Missed the point completely.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Auditors....

They're either uppity idiotic pricks who think they know everything when in fact they know absolutely nothing about how business works, or they are that useless that they can do nothing else...

Apologies if any of you lot are auditors,
