Yes but Sydney Barnes was representing Wales in a domestic competition and therefore it does not count as it was not an international match
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

He took 12 wickets for Wales in one match against the West Indies.bwfcdan94 wrote:Yes but Sydney Barnes was representing Wales in a domestic competition and therefore it does not count as it was not an international match
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
But it would not have been recognized as a full international as it was a touring match. Its like Wales playing Australia A.

Yes, but you asked "Which three cricketers have represented both England and another international side in Britain or Ireland." The Welsh side was an international side whether they played the Windies or Lancashire.bwfcdan94 wrote:But it would not have been recognized as a full international as it was a touring match. At the risk of going off on a tangent, I seem to recall young Dan had a number of Counties on his list of Countries visited. That seems to open up a world of possibilities.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Yes, but you asked "Which three cricketers have represented both England and another international side in Britain or Ireland." When I were a lad, you had to be born in it to play for it. You didn't have feckin Yorkshiremen playing for Lancashire, never mind Welshmen.

He was born in 1974. That's not when I were a lad. That's the sort of stuff I'm moaning about. Fine Lancashiremen sullying themselves playing for Yorkshire. The outrage!mrkint wrote:warrabout Vaughany? He was born in Eccles!

Not sure that's remotely true.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:When I were a lad, you had to be born in it to play for it. You didn't have feckin Yorkshiremen playing for Lancashire, never mind Welshmen.
Syd Barnes - one of the greatest bowlers you've never seen was born in Stafford and played in 1899 for Lancashire.
One of Lancashire's earliest Captains, Jack Sharp, was born in Hereford. That was in 1920.
Ken Grieves, who captained the County in 1963 (marginally before I were a lad) and played for our beloved Bolton Wanderers was an Aussie.
Then of course there was Clive Hubert and Farokh - yadda, yadda, popular myth.
Yorkshire's Lord Hawke was born in Lincolnshire - so they're talking bollocks as well
How old are you again?

It is. ..... As you were.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:It may well be bollox.
As I've said before, I know nowt about creeeeeekeet, but I rememeber being told as a lad you had to be born in the county you played for - they might have been lying to me.
It was only ever Yorkshire who held to that .... & they abandoned it, in stages. Firstly allowing an overseas player (who, by definition etc.) then allowing a limited number, now it's theoretically a free for all. They still tend to go for Tykes though.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

That's not strictly true either (although generally the case) - it's miffic.bobo the clown wrote:It is. ..... As you were.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:It may well be bollox.

A cursory glance down their Club Captains over the years shows
Everard Radcliffe - Born, Tiverton, Devon
Lord Hawke - Born Lincolnshire
Think they blagged it a bit, because the above two had the family pile, in Yorkshire - which seemed to make them Yorkshiremen, even though they were born outside the County.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
bollox - it's totally true - they were yorkshiremen because they played for yorkshire...
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Kirby for example was born in Lancashire yet had a hatred for them and when playing for Yorkshire said the following "Umpire, I'm going round the wicket. Call the ambulance" Yorkshire fast bowler Steve Kirby during a Roses match at Headingley in 2001. Chris Schofield hit the next ball into the West Stand for six.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:He was born in 1974. That's not when I were a lad. That's the sort of stuff I'm moaning about. Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Well, when I were a lad there were weekly stories of roads, ports and aerodromes being blocked by the hordes of Yorkies returning their 8+ month pregnant wives to the White Rose county so they could qualify to play for them.
That was the tale then and as far as I'm concerned held good till they started letting all & sundry play for them.

In fairness, my missus had a travel ban imposed too. Wouldn't want any accidental Tykes, Scousers, Welshies etc. etc. now would we?bobo the clown wrote:Well, when I were a lad there were weekly stories of roads, ports and aerodromes being blocked by the hordes of Yorkies returning their 8+ month pregnant wives to the White Rose county so they could qualify to play for them.

Looks like Mr Warner has been at it again, had to be separated from the South Africa wickie today after sledging. He is easy to wind up that David Warner isn't he.
