And on a separate note.......someone likened me to Robert Webb.......this was in a taxi on the way to St Andrews a couple of years ago.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It was an absolute shite ending. Not a single story thread was resolved. Shite.thebish wrote:bobo the clown wrote:Just a head's up for those who were watching it .... the final episode of 'Good Cop' is on the BeeB tonight (13th) at 10.30pm

Watched Homeland last night. I was trying to read but the missus had it on a bit loud so I thought I might as well watch it (not having done so before).

Let me run this by you and you tell me where I went wrong. So. There's a dippy blonde bint who's high on drugs or some'at being 'handled' by a Jewish bloke called Sol and they are in some huge 4x4 deep in Hezbollah territory and she isn't wearing a headscarf and he isn't wearing any disguise to remove his oy-veyness from the local bandit population who come out on mass brandishing weapons but just stand around rocking the 4x4 a bit while the mutters inside sit looking a bit worried until somebody has a ding on their windshield so they take off like a bat out of hell but have left behind the blonde who runs up to a flat she's never ever seen before in a warren of flats and despite it not having a nameplate which says Top Terrorist Flat in Arabic, let alone English, knows instantly which flat it is and goes in and raids the place capturing top class material that no self respecting Top Terrorist would leave lying about and then manages to evade flying bullets from the enraged Hezbollah types who minutes before had been rocking Solly to sleep in his 4x4 only to emerge into an alleyway in the warren of flats to be picked up by the escaping 4x4 that must have been driving like a bat out of hell for minutes on end but were still in the exact vicinity of the rocking incident, and even more amazingly the top material she has found includes an unencrypted jihadist video from a US Marine in full US Marine dress uniform complete with medals even though the video had been taken when he was a captive in some Arab souk where the least likely thing he'd be packing in his suitcase just before being captured would have been a full dress uniform.
Really?

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Its an entertaining rant, but its ultimately pretty unfair. Homeland is a good show. its an entertainment drama programme, not a documentary so you have to forgive a few plot holes. Imagine if you applied that logic to James Bond, or if the Joker had just put a bullet in Batman’s head instead of tying him to the conveyor belt every week!...
Ive not seen any of this series yet but presumably shes back on the clozapine which she takes to battle her bipolar disorder. The captor being in full uniform is proof they need that the Hezbollah have brainwashed a POW who is now back in the US (where he filmed the video) posing a threat. – and if not, it cant be hard for them to knock up a similar suit and some replica medals can it? They will have recognised the flat from intelligence, have you never played COD!? and Carrie does speak fluent Arabic tbf and shes fit.
Its also won a bollock load of awards which is always nice when the lead is an Englishman.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I'm new to it so I've come at it from a different perspective than my missus and your good self. What I saw didn't make a great deal of sense to me, hence the rant. More than that it was absurd.General Mannerheim wrote:Its an entertaining rant, but its ultimately pretty unfair. I do understand it is only entertainment and that it doesn't have to be true to reality like a docu-drama, but it may be that its internal logic is beginning to get so twisted that the programme makers themselves don't see how absurd some of the scenes are, maybe?

Ha, nice rant. You'll hate the one just aired last night then. It might as well be 24 with all the increasing reliance on total suspension of disbelief, I'm a bit disappointed about this actually.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I don't even know where to start with that rant. Basically, as you said, you've only seen that one episode, so maybe you should watch the rest of it before judging it? It would also answer a lot of your questions.
I'll go with the last point, though. No, like GM said, Brody didn't make that video when he was captive. He made it minutes before he was planning an attack on America.
Hell, even your point about Carrie not wearing a headscarf would have been answered if you'd have paid attention to the re-cap at the beginning of the show.
She also knew exactly where to go in the flats because she's been there before. Like it was mentioned, she'd had dealings with the woman before. And no, no top ranked terrorist wouldn't leave anything of value lying about, hence why nothing was found. It was by complete luck that they found the memory stick in the bag.
It would have made a hell of a lot more sense if you'd have watched the thing from the start, but isn't that blindly obvious? If so, why the rant?

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Haha, yep, well, this week's episode is far worse in terms of realism.
Looking forward to Lost Leopard Spot's review of it, where criticism will, this time, be completely valid.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
The thing is, even if that episode there were parts that were far more obsurd than the parts he mentioned, such as Brody having no problem taking in a mobile phone to a high security, top secret mission and being able to alert Abu Nazir, and the fact that there was a helicopter ready to take Carrie home yet she had to get a new passport and identy to get into the country?
Like mentioned, it's entertainment, not a documentary, so I can suspend belief on a small scale if the show is good enough, which it definitely is.
