England boss Steve McClaren will hold crisis talks with his most influential players - John Terry, Frank Lampard, Gary Neville, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney - to discuss the friendly defeat by Spain ahead of next month's Euro 2008 qualifier with Israel. (Daily Mail)
Same old clique. Same old self-selecting tossers.

Wasn't one of those trying to start a players revolt 3 years ago ?

Wasn't another banned for drug related issues ? (… & see above)

Isn't another playing so shite that his place in the squad should be in question ?

Isn't another so fckg thick that he probably won't be able to follow the discussions anyway ?

MacCLAREN OUT !!!!!!!!!!

I still find it unbelievable that they appointed McClaren.

The England squad cleary just needed a big shake up, somebody to come in and put a new lease of life in to them.

Appointing somebody who has been asssitant for god knows how many years, isn't going to do that.

Correct.

We know what Crouch can and cannot do (goalscoring for example), but surely Dave Nugent would deserve a go

repeat for Rio, fat Frank, Gerrard etc etc

this sort of shit is why I don't bother with the England team

Yeah, but dosen't McClaren have lovely white teeth though?

Best man for the job for that reason alone.

Exactly, and that wont happen whilst somebody who has known them for years is in charge.

I actually rate McClaren as a manager, and if he wasn't in the set up previously he would have done a lot more. Unfortunately he's been involved too long to make a difference.

I didn't hear it personally, but I read in last night's paper that Danny Mills apparently had a right old go at Steve McLaren when asked for his views during some weekend punditry.

Seems he isn't too popular with his ex-boys.

Got to disagree Kev he's never really impressed me as a manager, ok he won the CC cup (as we all know  ), but he also nearly got boro relegated after spending a fair amount of cash in his first couple of seasons there.

Mopst certainly not England quality!!

That extra few quid for Scolari would have been well spent, instead we've got the current purple faced moron.

Sven would 'ave done better!!

Surely the input from these players will do a great deal of good. "Everything's fine Steve, we only lost because you called up Barton and Wright-Phillips! Recall Heskey and everything will sort itself out!"

Trying people is all well and good but I'd much rather see MaClaren just stick out his best 11 every time. We all know already who that best 11 is except perhaps the extra striker to play alongside Rooney or whether to go 5 midfield, those players need gain experience playing together.
The only thing we learned against spain was just how SWP is never gunna have an england career while he's sat on the chelsea bench.

Good point.
He made the decision to go and sit on the bench though rather than continue to play every week for Man City so screw him.
