I always admired Kevin Smith and his films until I went to see Jay and Silent Bob Get Old at The Apollo a couple of years ago. The guy has talent but that was the laziest, most complcent p!sstake of a live event I've ever seen. Gone off him a bit since.

^ That was in Japan. I know this because of the roof tiles. Doesn't make it any less amusing, but does explain why he was filming it in the first place.
That's not a leopard!

Thanks, Bruce - I enjoyed it.

That's brilliant. And really difficult for me to recognise so much of it.

Oh, here you go - there's a Part One to it, too.
Narr then, I'd always assumed that the ill-fated Top Storey Club was that that eventually became Maxwell's Plum. However, looking at this then it must have been on the other side of Bank Street. Tango?

Sorry, only just seen this. Yes, the Top Story Club was on the other side and was actually accessed from Crown Street ( down the side of Whiteheads) It was an old mill originally close to where the multi-story car park now stands and backed on to the River Croal. Brings back unhappy memories as I knew and mixed with few of those killed. Maxwell's Plum was originally The Beachcomber.Bruce Rioja wrote:Oh, here you go - there's a Part One to it, too.

Re: The Official You Tube/weird world thread.
Cheers, Tango. I read recently (may have even been linked on here) that the guy that owned the place passed away a couple of months ago. Apparently he never really got over it. Did they pull the place down after the fire then? It's just that I don't recall there ever having been a building there during my life.TANGODANCER wrote:Sorry, only just seen this. On one of the clips I caught sight of the shoe shop that used to be just down from The Palais - John Prest, I think it was called. That brought back ome memories. Mother used to drag us down there as kids. We'd no money but she insisted on us having our feet measured properly and on us wearing Clark's shoes.

Re: The Official You Tube/weird world thread.
Not sure exactly what happened to Bill Bohannan (manager of the club at the time), Zulu knew him too and lived near him up Breightmet Way I think. There were rumours flying around amongst the in crowd at the time that the guy mentioned-Pedro Gonzales- was actually involved, but nothing was ever proven. You can read all the details on these two reports I dug out.
