Its the "set pieces" that didn't grab me about the original. Just not sure its my kind of game. Can't put my finger on why.FD wrote:Gears 2 is much better than Gears 1, I'd be amazed if anyone found the setpieces in gears 2 boring.BWFC_Insane wrote:Personal taste though FD. I prefer Far Cry 2 to gears as I found GOW boring.
As I said...trust me.

Fallout 3 is amazing though, as is Dead Space.
Far Cry is pretty good but it's on the bottom of the pile as it were.
Fable 2 needs patching, but is a class game.
didnt much care for fallout 3, think it was a big letdown.
farcry 2 the same, just seems there is so much to do and you keep going backwards and forwards, just my opinion, lol
fable 2 was brilliant apart from the story being to short and making money was way too easy.
dead space is ok nothing too special, think the fighting combat is crap though.
Only easy if people did the dashboard trick with changing the year or glitched the pub games to make silly amounts to transfer over in game ...boltonbhoy1978 wrote:FD wrote:Get Gears 2...trust me.

didnt even do that, dont like cheating in games, still way too easy with making gold when you aint even playing the game.

You can get them new for £129.99 and I believe some places were selling them even lower than that.keveh wrote:I literally need to stop myself going out and buying an xbox every pay day.
I think I may lock this thread just out of jealousy!
Or does anybody want to sell me theirs?!
Wouldn't buy a second hand one given their "unreliability" issues.

All you really need is a hard drive and one controller to start with. Buy those things cheap off ebay.keveh wrote:Aye, but that ends up being £200 easily when ou want your extra remotes, battery packs etc etc.
I'm hoping there will be some good sales after christmas
Stuff the battery packs I just use regular AA's.
Buy an arcade model, get on live and go to www.xbox.com/storage and you can either get a free 512MB memory unit or a 20GB HDD for £12.99.
It is worth baring in mind that pretty soon you will be able to save your games onto your 360 so you don't need to have the disk drive whining constantly, and this takes up a fair amount of memory (I heard somewhere Far Cry 2 took about 6.5GB).FD wrote:Buy an arcade model, get on live and go to www.xbox.com/storage and you can either get a free 512MB memory unit or a 20GB HDD for £12.99.
Indeed thats true and most games will take up 5.5 - 7gb of space. However, I've tested it myself and I personally don't find there to be much of an increase in performance, most certainly not enough of an increase to warrant paying the horrendous prices they charge for a HDD bigger than their standard 20GB one anyway. For example, in Gears of War 2 you get texture popup in multiplayer, this remains even if its installed to the HDD.
The one true positive from the install option though is that it reduces the disc spinning therefore probably extending the life of your 360, or at least it's DVD drive. You do still need the disc in the drive to play an installed game though, so its ONLY a case of saving the disc drive and (according to MS but not in my experience) increasingly load times by a few seconds....and it IS seconds, thats all.
Personally I think a 20GB 360 HDD for £12.99 (refurbed or not) is a bargain (and thats the option I'd choose over the free 512MB memory unit) but there's no way on earth I'd pay what they are asking for the 60 or 120GB HDD.
