Don't try to understand - you'll only give yourself a headache.

Had one against Wigan as it was all they had left (obviously our visitors had first dibs on the pie supply) and thought it was pretty decent.

Had to chuckle on Tuesday when the Scouse lad serving North Lower automatically got a Chicken Balti pie for the Asian girl in front of me in the queue, at which point she proclaimed in the broadest Bolton accent possible that she wanted a meyt & prater :D

I'm surprised at you Bruce, I thought "butter pies" were quite popular with old people :wink2:
They sell them in most chippies I've been in.

Well, I've lived in Bolton most of my life and had never heard of one before here? :|

Most chippies in Lancaster sell them, though I haven't seen any where I live now in Merseyside.

I've heard of them but I don't recall seeing them in Bolton - they certainly don't have them in any of the chippies in Little Lever. I first heard of them when I (briefly) went to Wigan College; I tried one...not bad but a bit too much on the greasy side for me.

Ya cheeky mare! :D
I've honestly never heard of them before. There must be some serious fat and calories involved so I'd better try one out in the interests of experimentation.

You know, Tango. I've sometimes wondered what a Carrs pastie must taste like on its own, but I just can't bring myself to do it! 8)

When I was younger and worked at Axfords we used to have a ritual on a Sat morning that we'd go to this pie shop round the corner, and buy these meat and tater pies on barmcakes, but barms about a foot wide

used to fill you up good and proper

i'd kill for one now

Ah, were they the one's made famous by Dave Felgate when he worked at Axfords and he was playing for Leigh RMI when they put Keggy Keegle's Fulham out of the cup (or at least gave them a right old run for their money) and the permed, mustachioed Welshman was on top form and in all the papers?

Oh right, I didn't know that Axford's operated out of anywhere other than Farny. Well, your mission, Batty, is to find the name of yon pie shop. If you know of a good pie shop then it needs to be shared. Afterall, there are clearly more badduns than gooduns these days. How anybody can select Greggs as being a good option for anything whatsoever is completely beyond me.
