Apparently, last year there were more working days than this year, despite the extra day.keveh wrote:I heard this on the radio the other day, employers could just twist it round and say you get paid for this day but the other three years you get paid for doing nothing freecommunistworkethic wrote:you're not getting paid for it if you're on a salary, so why should you work??

If you've been up all night and are going to the pub in five hours, work doesn't seem to figure much in your itinerary anyway.Clarky-BWFC wrote:Whats everone opinions on it?

I was always taught there are 365 and a quarter days in every year.
That's the time it takes for the Earth to complete a full orbit of the Sun.
The simple way of administering these 'quarter days' is to lump them together and give us a whole day.
So we do get paid for it and it does exist.

It's not the way the weekends fall surely. They fall on saturday and Sunday every week, every year. It must be the way that the statutory holidays fall in relation to weekends.hisroyalgingerness wrote:my boss pointed out that there's actually less working days in 2008 than there were last year, and there'll be fewer next year
just the way the weekends fall
but anyway yeah, lets all pack up and go home.

Slightly less than 365 and a quarter actually, so 2000 was not a leap year. A leap year is any year than can be divided by four except those that can be divided by 400. I get paid twice a month whether it is 28, 29, 30 or 31 days - so in terms of dollars per hour, the shorter the month the better.enfieldwhite wrote:I was always taught there are 365 and a quarter days in every year.
