They're largely similar, although the first one has a bit more 'oomph' with a 1.9Ghz processor as opposed to the 1.6Ghz of the 2nd one (both have 2 gig memory, both have 120 gig hard-drive). The first's also got a built in webcam, dunno if that'd come in useful or not (depends on your online activities, I suppose). Doesn't mention if the 2nd one is wireless enabled or not (would assume it is, but you never know), whereas the top one is definitely wireless ready to go.

Might be worth checking which has a better warranty or freebies or something, if at all, because for home use they're both largely similar.

If it's just for word processing and Internet then this will suffice and is good value too.

or for more choice

Not much to pick between them as far as I can see.

HP one - Tesco's - has better graphics card imo. Bit more pre-load software.

Dell has more L2 processor cache which is useful.

Other than that - nowt to choose really.

For Mr Blurred - I was looking at the Webcam and Wireless mini-card thing too. When you hit the "Customise" button on the Dell one. they look like they're listed as standard components..

theyre pretty similar , those intel dual cores are supposedly better than those athlon ones , but the fact the tesco hp one isnt a dell would probably sway me .. (if youre getting it from a real life shop , i assume taking it back if it busts would be easier than emailing tards to give you a 'sendaway postal box' to send it back with.)

the nvidia grafix on the tesco i would assume (but dont know for shure) is better than the intel onboard thingy on the other..

tesco do dells now too.. i think this is that dell one you sed but at tescos - http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-6354.aspx - a whole one pound cheaper..

the hp one has a brightview screen (not sure if the dell has similar) ive seen toshibas with similar on and theyre dead bright and sharp and smart ++ ..

i'd get the hp if its from a live real shop and the dell not.

if theyre both net ones, i'd probably still get the hp. just coz .

its either/or really

dual core is faster even if the number is a bit lower. If you are running Vista I'd definitely recommend 2048 RAM over 1gb/1024mb. the AMD processor isn't as fast as the Intel ones, however, for what you will use it for its unlikely you'll need anything too flash. Ebuyer is a good site so worth checking the link someone above gave you

Dunno if its a bit late to be adding my help but i work as a rep for HP (which does make me bias if I am being honest) If you want to spend around £400 then there is the compaq c371em available from pc world at 399.99, 1.6ghz dual core processor, 2 gig of ram and 160gig hard-drive plus a built in webcam/microphone. They are pretty good too slightly less processing power then the tesco HP but more memory which is a bonus.

Marvellous. I can imagine the shop conversations...
