Re: What are you watching tonight?
Now, I know that the second episode's being shown on BBC1 at this moment, but earlier we watched the first episode of 'The Tourist'.
OK, for anyone who's seen Spielberg's 'Duel', let me tell you here and now that it's impossible not to make a comparison with the opening scenes, however, after that just go with it.
Looks absolutely intriguing.
The excellent Jamie Dornan stars.

Though Tango, as a friend and knowing what I do know of you, I absolutely implore you to watch BBC's - Who Do You Think You Are? Boy George. Mate, just trust me on this one.

Firstly Bruce, I apologise for replying here and not by P.M, as Windows 11 has made a right xxxx up of my p.c and e-mail.
I watched it, this afternoon and yes it was a real surprise and very well done and researched, thanks for telling me about it... I always though Boy George was called O'Dowd? It wasn't the events that surprised me as I'm quite familiar with Irish history and the utter mindlessness of it all, being the first English born male of a long line of Irish Catholic families. My dad was one of ten children so he knew something of the poorer side of life. Even as a child I knew of songs you wouldn't find on your "Best of the Dubliners" album and, in my thirties, a friend once took me to a couple of pubs in Manchester after first making me promise to keep a buttoned lip and not to object to the rebel songs there. I had a look at the size of some of the lads in there and decided it was good advice.
A quite amazing thing about the songs I heard at family evenings, mainly English, was, it was not my father, a very quiet private man and tee-total (at least in the time I knew him) who did the singing, but my Mother, an English Mill girl. I never did fathom that one out and you didn't ask my father very much about certain things. The Kevin Barry one that Biy George sang I remember quite well, also this
which is relevant. Once again, thanks and regards.

Just watched it and echo your comments to the letter. Had they had it done in 90 minutes I may have looked upon it more favourably, but for some reason they just absolutely dragged it out.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 9:30 pmBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:03 pmSee, my brother describing it as being "a poor film but quite a thought-provoking topic" is really what's lead me to ask.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 9:23 pmI started watching but just didn't get into it, so stopped. Also interested if anyone has watched it so I know whether to try again!
Just sat through it and can safely say that’s 2hr 20mins I’ll never get back! Long and drawn out doesn’t begin to describe it. I had high hopes based on the premise, but feck me that was poor. Tried to be clever and failed miserably, giving a free 3 minute advert to Ariana Grande (who? I hear you ask!) along the way. They could have had the thing done and dusted in half the time!
The overall message is really quite pertinent, but as a piece of cinema? Not for me.
Also, something else which is increasingly pissing me off is me keep having to dive on the volume control. Not withstanding DiCaprio's character is quietly spoken, films these days seem to jump between - turn it up, I can't hear it, and - can you hear this in Nairobi?

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Have watched the first two episodes of the three-part 'Four Lives' ont' th'I Player; the disturbing but true story of how Stephen Port (played scarily well by Stephen Merchant) went on to murder four young gay men in 2014/15 under a dazzling display of incompetence by The Met, and how the families led by Sarah Sak, the mother of the first victim (and played brilliantly by Sheridan Smith) fought for justice.

Very good isn't it? The police incompetence is staggering.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 9:50 amHave watched the first two episodes of the three-part 'Four Lives' ont' th'I Player; the disturbing but true story of how Stephen Port (played scarily well by Stephen Merchant) went on to murder four young gay men in 2014/15 under a dazzling display of incompetence by The Met, and how the families led by Sarah Sak, the mother of the first victim (and played brilliantly by Sheridan Smith) fought for justice.
On a similar theme, I'd highly recommend 'Anne' too. Fook, it's harrowing but Maxine Peake is immense.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I caught the last 15/20 minutes of the episode which ends with Burnham addressing The Kop. It's one which, just based on the bit I saw, I decided I'll need to go right back to the beginning of to watch the series properly.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 10:05 am

It does indeed look like harrowing stuff.

Finished watching 'Stay Close' last night. Quite good.
However, James Nesbitt only ever plays James Nesbitt but in a different setting. Much like Sean Bean and Ray Winstone.
