You can tell that Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson were probably the main writers for League of Gentlemen....Bruce Rioja wrote:Just started to watch Inside Number 9. Not sure just yet.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Didn't think it would live up to the original. It did, Jeff Bridges was great in the part. Enjoyed it.bobo the clown wrote:True Grit MkII

Missed the first one but watched the second one twice. I wasn't sure what I was expecting and needed to see it again. Very, very clever indeed.General Mannerheim wrote:The first was alright, but the second was absolutely ace!Bruce Rioja wrote:Just started to watch Inside Number 9. Not sure just yet.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched My Dinner with Andre over the weekend.
Really, really shouldn't work. Two theatre types talking about life, reality, self-discovery. It's a near-two hour film, and most of that consists of Andre And Wally eating dinner in a swanky New York restaurant. I completely expected it to disappear up its own arse at one point.
It never did, though. It's so, so good.

That's a great shame. I thought the book was a truly inspired piece of writing, a story terrificaly told.

First was odd, but I liked, mainly coz Tim Key is ace. Second tonight.Bruce Rioja wrote:Missed the first one but watched the second one twice. It was quite excellent. The young girl's performance was astonishing. Both her acting and the writing & direction.TANGODANCER wrote:Didn't think it would live up to the original. It did, Jeff Bridges was great in the part. Enjoyed it.bobo the clown wrote:True Grit MkII

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Re Inside No 9 - The second is literally the best thing you see on your telly all year! Its mesmerising.
Re The Book Thief. I haven’t read the book, which tbh im glad about having seen the film. Im sure any fans of the book will dislike it too. But as a film It’s just got too many annoyances in it that i couldn’t get over. English language for one, English with a ridiculous German twang from the elder leads, English but with token ‘Nein’s’ and ‘Auf Wiedersehen’s’ to remind us thicko’s they’re meant to be German. I hate that. its irritatingly clichéd too, It also lacks any menace, any of the horror you’d expect from Nazi Germany, nobody suffers. Then the silly smug narration by ‘death’ just irradiates any remaining credibility.

Watched "Sound City" on BBC4 catch up, what a fantastic film/documentary. Thoroughly recommend it as its riviting to see the place where some of the best ever albums where recorded and the history behind the studio, plus its done by Dave Grohl, who in my eyes can do no wrong
