Just one episode left of Rules of the Game. Corporate jiggery-pokery. You hated H.R when it displaced Personnel ? You will after watching this.

Also features the brilliant Scottish actor Peter Mullan.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I haven't seen it but will watch Peter Mullan in pretty much anything.
I don't know if it's on iPlayer atm but he's in Mum which is a lovely heart warming sitcom (he's very much against type in it!)

Watched Dancing on Ice, Paul Gascoine's son is in it. A professional dancer and a likeable lad and already he's standing out. Go Reagan.

I see that tosser James Watt's being exposed once again, this time by BBC's Disclosure.
Awful man, awful company.

I bought a kind of 'selection pack' of Brewdog ales on Christmas. With the exception of the one which has grapefruit in it, I defy anyone to do the Pepsi challenge with the rest and tell me one from another. It's all just also-ran IPA.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 8:24 pmI see that tosser James Watt's being exposed once again, this time by BBC's Disclosure.

Will be catching up on Book of Boba Fett tonight
Started watching Trigger Point and Stay Close which seem pretty good so far
Also been watching Clarksons Farm, which considering the fact I really dislike(d) Jeremy Clarkson, it's an entertaining watch. Caleb, his farm hand is the real star of the show

Decent enough but nothing others haven't done better or just as well without all the wanky marketing.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:53 amI bought a kind of 'selection pack' of Brewdog ales on Christmas. Re: What are you watching tonight?
The decade the rich won (BBC2/iPlayer)...all about 2008/austerity etc onwards...thought was quite a good watch and given the mix of ex mps/investment bankers/Mervyn King (one for Brucie) etc. Was quite "open"...they just about got as far as "Brexit" so not sure where they're going with second part with only 2 years of a decade left...

Come to mine, we'll start the Ale Trail from here, and end up at yours. In fact, let's get a team togetherLeverEnd wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:23 pmDecent enough but nothing others haven't done better or just as well without all the wanky marketing.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:53 amI bought a kind of 'selection pack' of Brewdog ales on Christmas. Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched a spaghetti western (waiting patiently for something sensible to happen) that was truly terrible. Even good actors like Robert Culp, Ernest Borgnine and Jack Elam can stoop pretty low in the cause of employment. Script by The Beano, blood by Dulux. Serves me right..

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I watched 'Le Diner de Cons' again last night, with English subtitles, of course.
It always cheers me up and just seems to get better every time I watch it.

Seen it a few times, but it is a bit of a modern classic; Moneyball with Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Chris Pratt and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Second that. It managed to make fecking baseball seem interesting. Didn't survive contact with trying to actually watch a game but it's a belting film.
Not an exact parallel but the line that a good documentary is one that grips you even if you aren't interested in the subject matter itself.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Le Diner de Cons isn't a sports film. There's a bit of funny banter between two of the main characters who support Olympique Marseille and Auxerre respectively but that's not the main plot.
There's an americanised version of the film too though I haven't seen it. The original French version is the classic and the one to watch.
Worth seeing for the brilliant performance of Jacques Villeret alone, as Francois Pignon.
