I'm thinking of a trip to Ottawa in August, but the flights seem to be jacked up in price a little because it's the holiday season - anyone got any suggestions about where the cheapest flights to Ottawa/Montreal might be found?
Plus, are there any law school librarians out there who might be available to show me round their institution in August?

I'm going to the West with them soon for just £600. You can get cheap tickets if you're flexible with dates. Also check flying to/from different airports - I'm going into Calgary, back from Vancouver for cheaper than a Calgary return.hisroyalgingerness wrote:I used Canadian Affair, they're not so bad.

Only if it is after August 14 when I get back from the west. If that works it will be a pleasure.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I'm thinking of a trip to Ottawa in August, but the flights seem to be jacked up in price a little because it's the holiday season - anyone got any suggestions about where the cheapest flights to Ottawa/Montreal might be found?

Thanks, chaps.
That's great, Monty - I'll let you know when I have some plans.
How long does the train from Toronto - Ottawa take, do you know? And how much is cheap?hisroyalgingerness wrote:I used Canadian Affair, they're not so bad.
Don't discount a drop into Toronto and train over. The train's on VIA rail are fair cheap

Train from Toronto to Montreal takes about four and a half hours - Ottawa in not as far so probably less, but I'll try to find the schedule.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Thanks, chaps.

Edit: Okay, the time varies and it can take longer. You can check the trains and price on this website. One way ticket is about $60.00. Return is double the price.

Further edit: Takes 4.5 - 5 hours, same as Montreal-Toronto and the price is the same. First class is $30 more.

While we're on the subject, and given that me and Mrs B have considered emigrating there (stop cheering at the back), the Daily Mail's self-flagellation department adored the fact that Alberta's employment minister is recruiting for skilled workers over in Blighty...

In Toronto and Montreal the train stations are downtown, but in Ottawa the station is some ways out. So it is often better to take the bus to Ottawa and the more comfortable trains to Montreal and Toronto. The Montreal-Ottawa bus service is $60 return. One way tickets are $35 an adult and $22 a student.communistworkethic wrote:I can recommed the ottowa-montreal greyhound bus. about $60.

I think what Commie's saying, in his own inimitable way, is that you're not contributing anything positive to this thread with your assinine remark. It's not even humorous, which would be something.tony cunninghams willy wrote:Sorry?????communistworkethic wrote:hmmmm mitch or batman? hmm, whichever one it is, nob off.tony cunninghams willy wrote:Computer says no.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I'm thinking of a trip to Ottawa in August, but the flights seem to be jacked up in price a little because it's the holiday season - anyone got any suggestions about where the cheapest flights to Ottawa/Montreal might be found?

Your remark corresponds with the grammatic style of two posters (past and present) who indulge in this type of freeform nonsense out of boredom, spite or just plain mischievousness.

Course, there's always the possibility that a comparative newcomer wouldn't know that Monty is just such a person. You are probably correct, TD, but even in the absence of such knowledge the remark makes little sense to me.TANGODANCER wrote:Course, there's always the possibility that a comparative newcomer wouldn't know that Monty is just such a person. 'Computer says no' is the catchphrase of a character on the Little Britain comedy show.
