Reading/Leeds Festival 2008
Did anyone go?
Nothing but noise this year, apart from Tenacious D and Metalica.
Is it me? Or do the freaks get freakier every bloody year?
Edit: Just uploaded a couple of pics from Reading. 1000hrs in the morning until 0330hrs the following morning. 3 hours sleep, up for breakfast then start all over again doing the same hours Friday Saturday and Sunday. YAWWWWWN!!
Still, top money mind.
4x knives pulled on us, over ten idiots deciding they are brick hard after ten beers and taking a swing. over 20 fence jumpers caught and an impending court appearance to boot.
Not a bad weekend at all

You obviously didn't see him look out over Reading, then spotting a train station in the distance. Then immedaitely make up a song, right then and there about the choo choo that looked like a toy, off the top of his head.FD wrote:Watched the coverage on TV, Reading continues to be the festival Glasto wishes it was.
Shame the coverage was even more woeful that usual this year though!
Manics, Metallica, Seasick Steve all excellent.
Would have liked to see more Tenacious D as they only showed them miming two songs!
Quality!
Went to Leeds again this year. The sound on the mainstage was inexcusable. To pay £163 to get in, and then be surrounded by the worst, quiet sound I've ever heard is unforgivable. If I ever get round to it, Festival Republic will be getting a nasty letter.
However, Metallica were AWESOME! I think the fact they actually had decent sound may have given them a few extra points. Rage were pretty good, though a touch disappointing from my POV simply because of the setlist and how late they were on. Feeder remain one of the best festival bands in Britain purely for all their singalong anthems. The rest of the bands I saw were probably a little underground to review for the masses!
A good festival though in the end. Shame it was spoilt a tad by the usual gas canisters on fire idiots, and no offence to SOTWA, but the organisation and security was pretty shambolic (at Leeds anyway). I appreciate the planning that must go into an event that size, and how hard it is to coordinate so many staff, but the slack-jawed yokels of Yorkshire sure made it difficult for themselves and everyone else.

Yeah I noticed that, being a bit older now (!!) I gravitated to the back, just went for the Sunday (Killers) but loved most of it, just disappointed with the sound. Even getting near the front to Seasick Steve (legend) in the NME tent and the sound was poor there, what a pain.Marshall wrote:Went to Leeds again this year. good call, they were quality, great way to start the weekend. Buck Rogers is possibly the best live song I've seen, for the experience.Marshall wrote: Feeder remain one of the best festival bands in Britain purely for all their singalong anthems.
Bloc Party, The Killers, Rage, Less Than Jake, The Enemy, Less than Jake are notable mentions aswell.
